Could be a real mess. I've travelled a couple times in a bad freezing rain. Last time was the worse, and I was completely helpless in my 4x4 truck. It's a scary situation when you lose total control and hope you come to a safe halt. Lesson learned.

I battled my car one morning for around a 1/4 mile back and forth picked a gap between poles and left the road just a little front end damage. Local farmer family friend on his way to play bounty hunter saw me and got me out. Black ice |

Now they are saying 1/4" to 1/2" ice possible starting at 11 am today. Rain and 27°F aren't a good combination.

LaPorte county set another travel ban again today. Noon Monday till noon Tuesday I think they said. School let out early today already and said likely cancelled for Tuesday.
We already have a layer of ice.

Stay safe, we are forecasted for some freezing rain, but right now it's a couple degrees warmer than forecasted. Hopefully, it's all rain.

I went out to go check on the fish in the holding tanks. Yipes. What doesn't have snow on it is impossible to walk on. We have close to 1/8" ice so far. I threw coarse water softner salt on the bad spots, and I'm going to play hermit until noonish tomorrow if it lets up earlier. It's a mixture of rain and drizzle, but at 27°F, there isn't a lot of melting going on.......

Walked out yesterday morning to do chores and things were still fine other than the freezing rain. Walked out for evening chores and there were multiple spots where I nearly slipped on the ice. I had to be pretty careful in those spots (one of the worst is the area right outside our back door). Any small slip scared me half to death. I have that issue due to having a few too many times where I took a step and down I went. I was supposed to go to campus this morning for an 8:00 class but it's bad enough that all the schools, even Purdue, are shut down until 10:00. So class is virtual today.

Right at 32deg for us and raining. Cars have a light skim coat of ice. Road has some ice and mostly slushy spots. Water standing all over now. Snow pack is reducing noticeably. Happy to see the icebergs on the cars are falling off. I think we have seen the worst of it for the foreseeable future. Ready for some normalcy.
