Waiting for a contractor to show up here near Mexico, MO. Showing -8 here. Just got a Teams memo from my manager and safety champion: “Guys, with these temps and wind chills, stay home!” Ugh, little late for that memo fellas! Yeah going Back to the motel isn't very productive…. That’s one them memos that takes the liability off them if someone chooses to drive in! |

4 this morning at 7:40z The furnace is not keeping up. I let the insert go out over night. I’ll be firing it back up after breakfast and lunch in town today. It’s momma’s 84th birthday and we are meeting one of our granddaughters and her three kiddoes for doughnuts and later meeting our youngest daughter and her husband for lunch. It’s a good day! Happy birthday to your better half. 😁 |

Speaking of the poor souls working out in the cold... I spent almost 4 hours out in it last night between a stuck truck in the yard and a road call. My company supplied us with warm weather coat and bibs. They are branded in their name, so want us to wear them to advertise I guess. I took my Carhartts home. By the time I was done, laying on my back and side, the bibs were soaked thru and my leg and hip were soaked to the skin. I got back to the shop and and took them off and the zipper broke. I changed clothes to get dry and warm up. Needless to say Carhartts are going back. What a night. 😡

Not wanting to sound like a negative Nancy, I will say the coat supplied is very nice. 😇
Maybe I had put too much time and effort in to my call. I saw many other trucks being towed away, and only seen service vehicles out there for 15-20min. They probably weren't too happy in the cold.
Another strike against somebody with pride and loyalty for their job and customer service, yet not appreciated.

 ' this morning in sunny suburban Ari. During my travels last evening I saw a group of 4 deer. One had a huge body. My first impression was to look for a rack but it did not carry one and neither did the other 3. 2 were small in comparison to #3 which had the skinny neck of a doe. If that big one was a doe she was a monster. |

It is 75 here in Florida. It is raining but I am happy with that because it is not white and fluffy.
I figured out how to pay for my vacation with other people's money. What I am going to do is tomarrow I am gona go to the beach and have moma take pictures of me in my speedo. When I get home I am going to look in the mail box and if there are not envelopes with $10 in it from each person on hunt indiana I am gona post the pictures of me in the speedo here. I should charge more but sence you all are friends I am gona let you off cheep. If you saw me in a speedo you would gladly pay a hipmitest a hundred bucks to make you forget what you saw.

I went to fill up the PU truck yesterday with diesel and DEF from the truck stop. They put in all new pumps and the DEF pumps were frozen solid, and the diesel hoses were so stiff that they wouldn't bend. I had to pull my truck forward and back until it was just in the right spot for me to get the diesel nozzle in the filler tube. I still had little under 1/2 tank left, but I don't like to let it get low during cold weather.

The Cler Blue units were our product. I did not that stuff would freeze. |

I'm not complaining one bit about a few days of highs below 0. On a normal winter we will have a 2-3 week stretch of below 0 highs. My son has had several school days where he had to ride the bus with temps in the -30's. Loggers leave their equipment running 24/7, afraid it may not start back up if they shut them off. Again, not poking fun, it's just that I chuckle when I hear friends and family from down south complaining about -0 temps and 4-5 inches of snow, because I know to the southern states it IS a big deal. |

I can tolerate it in small amounts. It's just not as much fun as it used to be. It's much better when you want to be out in it and can dress properly.
I was stuck working over 3 hours in it last night. It was the coldest yet due to the wind. Had 3 reefer trailers that wouldnt start. Replacing fuel filters and priming them with frozen hands covered in diesel is getting to be in the "not so fun" category. 👎
