We are suposto get 6 in of snow big wind then the -0 cold. I don't care. We are heading for Florida tomarrow as soon as we get out of Dr appt for a week. Gona stay extra day on the road so we donot have to worry about the weather if we left friday morning. car packed and ready to go. Also got a couple fishing poles. May drownd a worm or two. What part of Florida you headed to? You picked a good time to go for sure! |

I'm expecting 5" of snow out of this mess. We will see. The cold will be worse than the snow.
I threw the snow tires on the truck (all 4 corners) put the driveway stakes in the grass, tomorrow I will change the weatherstripping in the 3 remaining Anderson windows on the East side of the house (upstairs). If I get ambitious I will change the weatherstripping in the 6-8 windows downstairs on the East side of the house then it's time to hibernate for a few days.

What part of Florida you headed to? You picked a good time to go for sure! Sébastien, fl,Indian river on oyster bay. Couple hrs south of Datona. I saw this cold forecast few days back and ask her if she wanted to get out of here. She said YES!!! So I got on the net and started looking for a place that was warm. Got a two bedroom full kitchen on the bay. Never been there but reviews were positive. When I look at reviews i throw out the it was great and the it was horrible ones and try to read between the lines on the rest. It hasn't failed me yet. If all are it was great I figure they are fake and if all bad I figure true. This is an OUR vacation so problly won't do much fishing. Will do thrift stores,good will,cremedic shops and pawn shops plus bunch od driveing around looking at scenery. If it was a my vacation it would be focused around hunting or fishing which I do every now and then |

..First Big Storm Hitting by Friday......Heavy Rains and High Wind Gusts Expected... Rain enters the forecast again Thursday night, as our first big storm for the weekend takes shape. The rain really gets going as it spreads over the entire region Friday. Widespread 1 to 2 inch rain amounts are forecast and localized higher rain amounts enhanced by potential thunderstorms are possible. This rainfall, coming after our recent widespread 1 to 2 inch rainfall, will be largely beneficial but may result in some flooding issues for roads or areas prone to flooding, where runoff is not as efficient. The other weather that really cranks up Friday will be winds and wind gusts. Peak gusts Friday afternoon and evening may approach 50 mph as the forecast stands right now. A marginal risk of severe storms exists, and while the risk is low, it may heighten damaging wind gust potential. As grounds become well saturated again, these high gusts may be able to down some trees or power lines, even if they don't quite reach severe levels.

I flipped on the tv weather to see how excited they were getting about the upcoming weather. Saw a new term describing what was unfolding, "BOMBOGENESIS", so I turned it off. 🙄

I wish my area would get a couple "BOMBOGENESIS". Get the kids outside slid riding, building snowman and ice skating. Kids and Sam making some money shoveling and plowing. Best part getting a free work out, no gym required. Just this week back in 77 we had the blizzard. I guess that doesn't compare to the "BOMBOGENESIS". My Granddaughter and I opened the shade to see a light dusting of snow. 32' and overcast. 34' now with a light wind out of the southwest.

Internet weather is now saying 6"-10" snow for here from Fri morning to Sat morning then a flash freeze. I'll go swap out the SD card in the trail cam tomorrow. In Greg's picture post above, I'm in the pink, above the blue area but below the area outlined in yellow - barely......

The funny thing about all this is that the honeybee queens and hives within this week or so will start laying eggs for the arrival of late winter March 1st time frame. The bees start around 6 weeks before the 1st flowers. The silver maples are one of the 1st and bloom late February to mid March south to North. Each week more and more eggs laid. The hives will go from around 84 degrees to 92-94 degrees once the queen starts. We are hungering down for winter and honeybees are preparing for spring.

We've gone from 3"-5" of snow both Sunday and Sunday night to now just a trace of snow. The Louisville meteorologist that I trust the most says that he isn't making any snow predictions until after the rain and wind tomorrow.
What has remained constant for the last week are the predictions for heavy rain and high winds tomorrow and frigid temps next week.
