So, Budd, I have a question for ya. A neighbor is scheduled to go fishing up by the border there June 1st. Should he bring ice fishing tackle or open water stuff? LOL

We had 80deg recently. Then today, we had a sleet storm hit in NE LaPorte county at 36deg. I tapped the brakes and got squirrely right off the bat. It caused the sensible drivers to pull over and wait. The people with no sense were the ones we saw wrecked and smashed up, strewn all over the highway, and into the guard rails. It was a huge mess once the traffic started flowing again. Crazy!

^^^^ Sensible being the key word there. Just goes to show you how much common sense has left the country.

Minnesota/Canada border there will be open water, if walleye fishing I would stay in the rivers. We still have 4-5 inches of snow on the ground from this last snow, looking at the extended forecast it's going to be a slow warm up.

I'll ask him what lake. Yes, the Canada/Minnesota border.

I'll ask him what lake. Yes, the Canada/Minnesota border. Probably Lake of The Woods. Fantastic fishery. Most of the fish will be in the rivers.

Leech is actually 22 miles southwest of me. There will be open water but still some ice floating around, again I would stick with the rivers if going after walleye. I could still be ice fishing for sure, I drove down to the lake yesterday and walked out. Still plenty of ice. I could go wherever I want on the snowmobile or 4 wheeler.

Get away from the edges and there is still over 20 inches of ice. Thanks, I'll let him know. Winds have been ripping the last few days, a bunch of lake's are open. A friend sent me a picture of Leech and it's still completely iced over. This wind keeps up it should have them all open in another week. Checked a few bridges and the male perch are moving into the rivers. Haven't seen any walleye yet.
