Don’t forget the juice harp for duff … every Band needs a third member. Does he have a quick finger? He'll have to be fast to keep up with Foggy Mountain Breakdown. Nothing about me is fast! Well, I am kinda quick when donuts show up at the break room. Also not very musical, other than listening.

Calling for a inch of snow tonight and another tomorrow. Im tapping out!! Where we deer hunt in N. Wi. they are calling for 4"-8" snow tonight/tomorrow. Genesis, I gave up splitting wood that way a long time ago. Dad always did it that way and I got tired one day of watching him work all day for little gain. The next day I didn't say anything, just showed up with a rented hydraulic log splitter. I didn't say much, I let him keep using the maul and wedges, I just started on the other side of the pile using the splitter. That was the last day he ever touched the maul and wedges. For him to admit that he was being penny wise and pound foolish was something HUGE for him to utter. IIRC it was $50 for the daily rental of the splitter.

I dont have to split most of my wood for the boiler, only if they are to big for me to throw into the stove without hurting myself. I had a splitter for a number of years but seldom used it. I cut 100 inch logs into 4 sections, maybe 2 logs out of a truck load need splitting....for now I do enjoy hand splitting.

Soon after, two of the neighbors had them as well. It's had many renovations and improvements over the years, but the beam, wheels, and hydraulic cylinder are still original. My brother now has it to use for his outdoor furnace. I can still remember as child when dad would sit me on the tire and I would operate it while he and a buddy would haul and stack.

But, using the sledge and wedge is just more about the exercise then anything else. It's definitely more physically demanding and that's something that I need. I enjoy that more than going to a gym or working out at home. When it's crunch time and need lots of wood split fast, I barrow a friend's splitter.

My buddy Steve bought one of those electric ones for up north at his cabin thing actually works fairly good. Works out good we can throw it in the boat or sled in winter and take it back and forth it’s a bit heavy, surprisingly it works fairly good even on a generator I didn’t think it would. Sure be a nice unit for a average home owner if you just needed to split camp fire or a fireplace wood doesn’t take up a lot of space easy to use

The wind has been ripping here today. Thankfully, I can see my Ameristep blind from my back patio door. So far so good!
That cool weather is going to be a cruel joke after this past week.

Wind, rain and dropping temperatures yesterday. Mid morning it was beautiful and 69 degrees. Around noon the wind came and temperature dropped to mid 40's by evening. On and off rain during the day. The wind gust was major a few times. I went out and put more weight on some of new small hives. I think straight line winds from the crashing storms. My guess a couple in the mid 60's mph. This seems to be the normal this year. One day ever week or two a day with 50-60 plus wind gusts.

Woke up to 32°F and a dusting of snow with wind. Not nice out there after the 80's of last week.

My apple trees are blooming calling for a low of 35 tonight. I hope it doesn't get the flowers. Not good for bees-beekeepers either.
