Mostly a rain event with a little slushy snow-rain on the ground. Schools closed last night for no good reason. This is what is wrong with today's society. They believe everything they see or hear in the news.

Quaint little Newburgh got quite bit of rain and not a whole lot of snow. Just a few white areas. I havenāt been out but the street in front of the house looks ok.

One thing I've learned over the years, and the last couple living here in Montana especially, when it snows you need to get that crap off the driveway as quick as you can. I'm sure folks laugh at me, but if we get a couple inches of snow I'm on the quad plowing. If I need to I'm on the tractor. If you get rid of the snow before you drive on it and pack it down you're golden. I do that, and in a day or so my driveway is bare, dry dirt, while the neighbors have packed snow and ice. We got a couple inches late yesterday, and I'll hop on the quad today and push it out of the way. Looking at 6+ inches between Friday and Saturday, then Sun/Mon high temps of 1-3 and lows around -15, so I'll be keeping that crap off all weekend. I actually enjoy plowing, so I don't mind so much. Earlier this winter I took the tractor and pushed all the snow 50+ feet away on both sides of my driveway and made 3-4 foot windrows...have not had one drift since. Of course being retired I do have the luxury of time to do all that, so I take advantage of it. I also hate snow, so when I plow it's kinda like me getting to "kill" it. Up here, even with shoes on the plow, I get about 2"-3" of packed snow on the driveway before plowing (at a customers). Here at the house I have a snow thrower, and leave about 1" snow on the ground so I'm not picking up gravel from the driveway and throwing it on the grass. I need to get a few truckloads of gravel for here next year, a lot of sand is starting to come to the top of the driveway. So far only 2" has come down.

I was 4yo. The snow was up to our mailbox! When we got out of the house eventually, the drift was angled up to the garage roof. That's all I remember.

I was 17 and can remember standing on the drifts next to the road in front of the house. Felt like we were 7-8 feet above the cars going by. We rode snowmobiles on 70 to Terre Haute. Missed an entire month of school which now is probably the reason for my lack of intellect since I didn't go the now mandatory 180 days!

I was -3, so no clue what it was like. When we moved into our house in Colorado we got like 20ā of snow in a short amount of time. Funny how much quicker snow melts out there being so much closer to the sun. Weād be out there riding our bikes over our snow ramps in tshirts.

About 8" snow in NE LaPorte now, with a little more coming on the weekend. Plowing over the warm ground has helped me cut back on mowing duties this year. Lol š. I skimmed and scalped a decent amount so far. My snowblower hasnt even got one use since I got the helping hand. š

Just wait. You will be moving dirt back into those areas and throwing down grass seed sooner than you think.

So, I'm curious as to what constitutes a big snow storm in your particular area? I realize that can vary drastically, but I'm interested. Here 6-8" is no big deal, and it isn't considered a "lot" until it hits 12 or better. I'm no fan of snow, so when I go out and plow it's kinda like I'm getting to "kill" it, so there's some payback.

If you listen to the news about 2ā and we all better get our supplies bought and ready and be prepared to be isolated in our houses for days. Iād say 6ā, at least where Iām at, is considered a pretty good snow amount. The others up north will be more than that Iām sure.
