Talked to a guy today in Chicago that claims the salmon are running…. He said he was going tonight off a pier using a glow in the dark spinner! Showing beach hazard, 6ft waves in Chicago tonight. EDIT to correct Sat pm into Sun. I follow reports from Port of IN to Frankfort, MI. Saying some fish are moving in up north and a few in the streams. Surprised Chicago area warmer water temps would be this early. Cant catch em if you dont try. So good luck to him. We will be checking over the weekend and report back.

No action at Mich City pier today. There was a hoard of boats trolling off the break wall, so some fish must be staging.
Didn't stay too long as Luke is wiped out from allergies or something, again. Second time since school started he is sick. Sniffle/sneezing, fatiqued, and now sleeping away, so he is definitely not feeling himself today. Sucky on a holiday weekend too.

Quick trip before dinner. Found a big log pile and had my first fish on before the second rod could be baited. Got a second fish soon after. Will give this spot a few more minutes than hit another snag or two before leaving.

Tried MC pier again. Nada. But was greeted with a ton of others guys fishing, and at least it sucked for them too. Lol. Waves were about 3-5 feet. Lots of spray coming over and rollers on the harbor side that were just up to the edge. Pretty cool. We stayed close to the Creek start where it was safer.

Took the boat out today and did a little trolling for hybrid bass. Got on the water around noon and drove around until we found the shad congregated. Wife caught her first ever wiper. Fish were caught on a Lucky Craft pointer jerkbait and Bobby Garland baby shad. Pretty fun on light powered crappie rods and 4lb line.

Slow but nice day. Brought home 10. Big ones were 12 inches. Buddy lost a nice fish...broke his line. Guessing a state record walleye...maybe a 5 pound catfish

Finally. Been wondering where fishing Fridays were. We are thinking of selling our camper and if so we won’t be down to the lake near as often.

shop.northlandtackle.com/jigs/whistler-jig/I like these in different colors tip with crawlers With night crawlers I’ve found it’s best to have a tail or just pain round jig heads with tails work. Mostly we troll slow off points humps or rock piles if your not getting hung up now and than your going to fast. This seems to be the feeding areas of eyes at least on theses lakes. When that fails we head for for deeper flat areas with maybe as little as a 6 inch hump in it they tend to rest or hang close to that hump I typically run a deep diving lure around these areas typically black with a silver belly but that’s a starting point I’ll change every 15 minutes or so. I fish with a buddy one of us runs top water the other runs deep water we change colors depth size till one of us catch’s one than we try and zone in on that. We are fairly hard core when it comes to fishing together bragging rights might come into play

Finally got the hot tip we've been waiting for, so I took off work. Luke and I will be giving it our all to hook up with a Lake Michigan salmon. Wish us luck!
