Finally sighted ours in today. I will tell you what that is a sweet shooting gun. After getting it tweaked in I had a 4 shot group that fit inside a quarter at 50 yards. My 100 yard group was a bit bigger, but I believe that was user error

Great for kids, women, and recoil shy. Good midrange cartridge.

Great for kids, women, and recoil shy. Good midrange cartridge. What would you say is maximum reasonable range?

I know the articles and videos say 300yd, but it really doesnt have a ton of power. Inside of 150yd, it's as good as any cartridge, and I wouldnt trade it for a 308 at that range. Speaking from a LOT of experience with the 357max.

Resurrecting this thread. I haven’t posted in a long time.
I’ve been in the gun shopping mood for a couple years now and added a Winchester XPR sporter in 350 legend to the ranks. Topped it with Leupold’s VX Freedom with the 350 Legend dial.
Long story short, it’s been doe reduction season on the two farms I hunt and had an opportunity to stretch the 350s legs tonight. Ranged the doe at 199, turned the elevation knob to the 200 setting and squeezed off a round. She didn’t run 50 yards before I heard her crash in the woods she ran into. First blood for this gun and first for me in 3 years.
Perfect round for anyone. Not just for the “recoil sensitive” as other “experts” might claim. It did as good a job as any 308, .30-06, 45-70, or 30-30 I’ve shot has done. For reference I was shooting Winchester’s Deer Season XP 150 grain round.

I’m using the same round, shot a doe with it this year and she only went 15-20 yards with a ton of blood. It’s the only gun I’ve been carrying with me this season. All my shots are under 150 yards so it’s perfect. I have a 4-12x50 leupold vx freedom on a savage axis

I bought the Savage Axis 350 legend combo with a weaver 3x9 scope. I sighted it in at 100 yards and am using the 180gr Winchester power points. I bought this because I used a Marlin 512 for years but the darn thing is so heavy and the sabot slugs are hard to come by plus expensive. The 350 legend is so much lighter and way less recoil. I shot my 11 pointer with it this year at 125 yards through a tight opening in the brush. I would have never attempted that shot with my 512. I am soooo happy with this gun and the ammo is readily available. Wish I had one years ago.

Son is the only one that’s shot one with it and it did one backflip down the hill and was dead.

Some were saying low expansion on longer shots, but at least it doesnt fall apart or over expand with low penetration. I follow a few forums, and that round in the 350L is really making a name for itself. Good choice!

I picked up a Savage Axis early last spring, I only messed around with it a short time and put it away. I got it out today to dial in. To say I was impressed is an understatement. Man, that baby shoots! Very little recoil and holes touching at 100 yards. I just bought a Savage 110 in 350 Legend, plan to sight it in this coming week. What ammo were you shooting? I have Hornady American Whitetail 170 grains and Winchester Power Point 180 grains. It is a fine feeling, well balanced little rifle. Can't wait to take a deer with it. Ive got a Savage 110 also. Ive shot both the Hornady & Winchester out of it. Both shoot very well

Looking at the ask a conservation officer forum there is a question about the .350 legend. I just got one and it seems like there might be ammo available that would make it non legal for public land? This sure seems complicated. The state tells me below a .350 legend is legal for public land and that is what I will be taking to Big Oaks this year.
Some cartridges legal for deer hunting on public land include the .350 Legend, .357 Magnum, .38-.40 Winchester, .41 Magnum, .41 Special, .44 Magnum, .44 Special, .44-.40 Winchester, .45 Colt, .454 Casull, .458 SOCOM, .475 Linebaugh, .480 Ruger, .50 Action Express, .500 S&W, .460 Smith & Wesson, .450 Bushmaster, and .50 Beowulf. Full metal jacketed bullets are illegal.

Call Big Oaks and ask them…. No one(CO) ever checks factory ammunition IMO

I'm not 100% positive, but I think that the new .360 Buckhammer and the .400 legend would be legal on private and public ground too.
Before I went that route, I would contact the IDNR to be sure.

Certain manufacturers don’t have the diameter of .357. Just have to make sure yours are.
