My two hunting buddies and I got selected for both early and late Ft Harrison Hunts. It will be good to get back there. We haven't been selected since 2018.

No draw for me on Clifty again.
I guess they don't even take the IBO thing into account anymore, or even hunter ed. Just toss everyone into the same pot.

I drove around sixty miles from where I lived to sit for twelve hours when the gas money was a burden for me. I don't remember what I "paid" but it wasn't like I plopped down a thousand bucks to leapfrog other people. I put the time in for an advantage promoted by the state. This logic is exactly the same as the same as people claiming it's not fair that people who work harder have more money. 'Not fair' is always the mantra of the undisciplined. If you wanted the IBO certification you could have taken the class. I have found it's best to know something about a subject before I pontificate on it.

Did they actually have you shooting targets to see if your a “capable archer”? I know exactly how the system or subject works…. that’s also why that it was changed from what I have heard! Bottom line is if you don’t like it don’t apply… I am sure more are applying now its become a equal system!

Big Oaks 11/06. That's the date I wanted if I was going. Hope to get an easy access place as my Dad of 81 years of age will be going. I have been there two times and have never seen a deer. Maybe my luck will change.

Although I miss getting preference, those of us that are grandfathered have either already taken hunters ed, or don't plan to. There isn't much reason for DNR to continue to offer preference when mostly everyone has to have hunters ed now.

Now bowhunter's Education is laughable if you don't shoot.( See your first paragraph) Glad you are here to advocate for safety and champion the oppressed. Personally, I am rooting for those that did get drawn, regardless of how it happened, while still wishing I had. These two thoughts can coexist. Good luck to all hunters!
