The fish population will probably increase in that pond now that hog is gone probably munched down a dozen bluegill a day He said he had some big ones in his pond I guess that wasn’t one of those fish stories after all

^^^ And that one isn't near the biggest one in there. The biggest one (if it's still in there and alive) should be 3x that size.

I have eaten them several times. Just not my favorite. How do you guys like them? Not much goes to waste in our house. I use anything I can as filler for Giant little Luke. Lol. We think they taste pretty good. A lot of people say they dont like largemouth, but we ain't picky. We soak overnight and fry. No complaints. Bluegill, walleye, catfish, anything else, that's about the order we like best.

I think I leave too much of the red meat on the fillet just not my favorite. I eat white bass and yellow bass no issue. They are 100x better than again carp. That is 1 fish I will never fix for myself again.

I agree too. Get off as much of the red meat as possible, do the same for catfish. Striped Bass I'd soak overnight in buttermilk. Don't seem to have to do that with the HSB.

He hasn't seen half the fish in there. LOL That's why I need to cull some out with the low water levels. They aren't growing as fast as they should be growing, looking at the relative weight charts, that HSB that he's holding should have been almost 9# for it's length. Not enough food in there and I don't want to start throwing more pellets due to the low water levels.

I kept an asian carp one time and the amount of meat I had to cut out to remove the bones made it not worth keeping anymore. I thought it tasted fine but a real pain in the butt to clean. But I've also fried up gar and enjoyed it.

The silvers I cooked were caught at williams dam area and the tast was exactly like the smell of the river. Even with a ton of spices and breading.
The smell is a good odor sort of the way I like the smell of 2 stroke exhaust. But to taste it...yuck!
When I see a guy eat them on TV and claim he will never throw another back I believe it is a big prank.

When cooked they tasted just like the river smelled downstream of the paper mill.
