We tried the St Joe R at Twin Branch dam and Central Park at Mishawaka this morning. Lots of fish jumping and porposing, and lots of guys fishing, but never did see a single hook up. I'll let you know when the neighbor says they are biting in Trail Creek - he works there in Michigan City and fishes there on his lunch break. When they are biting, he said he's landed 6 in his lunch break. They are biting...cyber scouting at its finest. Thanks IDNR

Thanks! One thing not noted is whether he snagged the fish or caught them in the mouth. The fish ARE there, they be jumping, but not biting.

If there are fish in the creeks worth casting to that is all that matters. Catching smolt is fun for about 10 minutes. I would not drive 4 hrs if the big ones were not in the harbor or creeks.

Do the average fish seem any larger than they were 2 years ago? Thinking that with a year with a lot less fishing pressure they might have grown faster.

I feel from what I've seen in Northern Minnesota that fishing pressure was up considerably over the last couple years. Really cant grow any faster than what the environment allows.

I’d say yes They do seem to be a bit bigger but they still get pressure from locals Fishing can be unbelievable at times and you go out the next day and can’t buy a fish. A big lake that I really like I have to travel a bit to get to but I’ve caught eyes 20 to 24 inch’s and a ton of smaller ones on and go back a day or two and fished all day caught maybe two fish

New spot looking for toothed critters but nailed this stud. 4 inch fluke sucked down. Only caught 1 other but if I would have downsized it would have been ugly

It has been the year for me. Granted i have fished more than year prior. The quality of crappie I have landed has been incredible. I didn't measure this one but I would guess 14 to 15 inches. I have not broke 15 yet this year. I would love to land a 17 to 18 incher. There was a 3 pounder caught in the slab masters a few weeks ago on Monroe so it could happen

That is a nice one for sure. We never did break the 16 inch mark on Monroe. Caught a handful at that size, but just couldn’t break that.
