duff where’s the fish today? Lake was sure looking beautiful. Nice and calm and hardly no boats out there. Well I didn't want to brag... but we did ok today. Late start 14 inch for big crappie. 8 pounds for big cat. Ol Dave fought it like a champ. I was convinced he had bottom! Brag all you want, those are nice fish!

That Yellow Perch that is in the tote @ 3:00 that is 2nd in from the outside looks exactly like some of the Lake Erie strain Yellow Perch that I buy for stocking ponds.
Great catch! What two fish is in the corner near 9:00?

Not bad on lake Erie today got a nice assortment. What's the fish that lioks like a big crapie without spots? Looks like you have one in the middle of the tote and one in the lower right hand corner of the cooler?

Had a good night at the river last night. Caught a channel cat, 3 largemouth, and this critter. Is this a bullhead or a baby flathead? I was thinking flathead but im not too familiar with either species.

Baby flathead. Cool little guy That looks like a stonecat to me. They have a flathead too. Hmm never seen one that big. I have heard of madtoms but they are small. I'd call it a flat but my wife is happy to point out how many times I am wrong. Regardless it is cool looking

Regardless it is cool looking I've caught them in the Musselshell river in Montana and thought they were flathead as well till one of the residents told me what they were. Max size is aboot 12". But from that pic is hard to really tell. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noturus_flavus

Thats why I like river fishing; you never know what you may catch. Then when you catch it, you might not even know what it is.

I think it's a small flathead. Does Noturus flavus have the black spots on it? The references I have don't specify that they have the spots.

The tail fin is the give away.
It it was rounded it was a flathead. This pic looks more like a channel than a flathead.

And a wasp like stinger on their adipose fin....that is different than a flathead. Pretty cool. I got a degree in fisheries management, worked close to 10 years in the field and fished creeks my whole life and never seen one that I knew of. Plenty of the big 3 plus bulkheads and madtoms but never a stone cat. Learn new things all the time.

We tried the St Joe R at Twin Branch dam and Central Park at Mishawaka this morning. Lots of fish jumping and porposing, and lots of guys fishing, but never did see a single hook up.

I'll let you know when the neighbor says they are biting in Trail Creek - he works there in Michigan City and fishes there on his lunch break. When they are biting, he said he's landed 6 in his lunch break.
