Look forward to retirement after death 😄. I'm 44 and have a 3, 10, and 12 year old. Retirement will be a ways out for me but i still save for it. Here is the interestimg part to me. Within the next month I'll turn 47 and my kids will turn 26 and 24. For a bunch of like minded people, every aspect of our lives is different. I started early too. I'm 40 and my daughter is a sophomore in college.

Some of my earlier jobs were at a lumber yard, steel plant, clothing warehouse, machine shop, and a casket inspector.

...................and a casket inspector. From the inside? Inside and out Woody. Caskets are very cheaply made. I despise the death industry. Everything is marked up by huge margins. They take advantage of families at their worst moment. When my time comes my wife has strict instructions on how my body is to be handled. There is no sense in wasting money on me when I'm gone.

I don't like the idea of taking up space in a grave yard so as of right now my plan is to be cremated and buried with my wife if I go first. If there is a more environmentally considerate way I'd like to look into it.

I want to be cremated and have my ashes dumped in the woods on my property. Have a cookout at the house where people share good memories. Nobody dressed up or wearing suits. Just a good back yard party. I want the cost to be the absolute minimum for my wife. I'll be gone. What's the point of spending money on me.

My religion doesn't allow for the spreading of ashes part but you aren't bothering me if that is your decision. To me this body is a shell that we use for a little while. I think it's Woody who has a really neat quote on his signature line about our time here. No need to have a big todo over me, just have some BBQ and beer and remember the fun we had!

My goal if capable is donate any and all organs worth it. After that I would be happy to have my carcass used as a bait pile for possums and vultures. I don't want a grave.

My stretch goal is more like 10 to 15 yrs out but a few things would have to work out well for me to do that. Likely have to work until govt Healthcare kicks in for me and my wife.

Shoveled snow. Went to Catholic grade school so we never had snow days. The nuns put us to work clearing the walks to school and Church. Then all at home and then I could get to my paying jobs. Cut grass and raked leaves. Service station pumping gas, check oil and wash windshields. Do oil changes light mechanical TBA. Laborer in a weld shop. Then welder. Switched to machining and worked my way up. Got into running CNCs. Programmed, processed and ran CNCs. Retired now.

Hustled as a kid mowing yards, bailing hay, helped building pole barns. In high school I pumped gas and worked in a warehouse for Bill and Gloria Gaither. Joined the Navy in 84, studied hard for 2 years and became a nuclear trained Machinist Mate. During that time I got to live in Idaho for a year and in my off time trout fished in crystal clear lakes and hunted pheasants, grouse, and ducks in the Fall. Got sent to Groton, CT and went to sea for four years on my new home USS Dallas. Met a lot of good friends that I still call my brothers and we chased Russian subs out of Murmansk every Spring and trained for war in the Caribbean the rest of the time. When the Iraqi’s invaded Kuwait we left to go to the Med for Desert Shield Anne Desert Storm and after that was over I started my civilian life as an operator in an old coal fired power plant for PSI Energy in Noblesville, IN. We converted that over to a modern combined cycle plant with gas turbines in 2003. After 10 years of operating them, I moved to Henry County station where I now operate and maintain aeroderiviative gas turbines, that’s a fancy name for jet engines hooked to a generator! I will have 30 years in this coming January only a couple more years and I’m retiring to Cross Plains, IN to chase deer and turkeys and tell tall tales with the shooters down at Friendship!
