Bagged ice at city's pure ice, worked 8hrs in 32°, rode my bike there. Performance packaging making corrugated boxes during the day and stocked shelves at Eagles supermarket late at night. La Porte county landscaping as a mechanic/machine operator . Steel warehouse in South bend being a mechanic ,fixed anything that had wheels, even worked on a zamboni. And then finally back to a box factory ,Pratt Industries, fixing the machines that make the corrugated board and machines that make the boxes. Its aboot 13 acres under roof.

Started at Minklers Hardware is South Bend. Ms Milander taught me how to fix door glass and screen, cut keys, mix paint, thread pipe, be customer attentive, and prompt to work. All at 12-13yo.
Then got interested in welding and fabricating. Did a couple years of production welding, then on to the city maintenance garage in the welding/fab division. Moved me to auto mechanic on police cars, then all division light duty mechanic. Then they needed truck and heavy equipment mechanics more than anything. So spent 5 years total there.
Moved on to a private trucking company as mechanic for a lot more money. Still here 19yrs later as night working/foreman.
Definately need to start looking for another career path. Body is getting wore down with aches and pains every day. A life of hard labor, cutting firewood, and a 13 year career in serious demolition derby is catching up quick!

To cover my expenses, I am the receiving department at a local factory. I've been warming the seat of a forklift for the majority of my adult life. With the panic buying the smarter and overpaid people at work have been doing I am now doubling as David Copperfield. I can hide things in that building that nobody can see but they are sure it's there. To be honest, lately my days feel like I'm herding cats.
For a living, I try my best to enjoy every possible moment I have outdoors. I have been teaching hunter education for 20 years and introduce as many kids as I can to the outdoor lifestyle.

Oh, the list is very long.
A business owner now, making use of my first college education, stocking fish in ponds, designing/managing ponds, and doing some wildlife habitat work when the water gets cold. Got one customer that I morphed into being a "Higgens" for them. (Remember the first run of Magnum PI?)

Forgot to add to the resume. To be fair, this is not my line, but borrowed from a signature line on another site. I have always loved seeing it.
"Wildlife population control specialist"

The drivers are always the smartest, most efficient and important at any job site. I mean that is what Span tells me all the time.

Started doing farm work at 13 then at 17 spent a year learning to work on sewing machines. At 19 went to work for Uncle Sam part time for 6 years while working fulltime at a sign shop as a sign erecter's helper. I worked a little over a year at Alcoa Aluminum. I was lucky enough to land a job coal mining where I learned to operate a lot of different equipment. I spent 29 years there. When that ended I spent 8 months tending a boiler and night watching at a large saw mill. After that I went to work on permit, got my card and spent 11 years working out of local 181 IUOE. Now I'm a full time house keeper, deer and turkey hunter, and part time joint replacement recipient.

I've met plenty, they never wear a smile. I actually loved my job most days. I always seemed to be with a good crew that knew what they were doing. Not sure why but ALL the trucks up here are rear discharge. Little less work for the driver. One of the last big jobs i was on in Indiana was the Chrysler building, 40acre under roof, all colored floors. I was on the first thru the last pour. Also done the Isuzu plant. Very long but good days...lots of memories.
