No luck for me this morning. I canoed into a different piece of public for the evening. Wind was pretty strong which allowed me to get close to some bedding. We’ve got some weather coming in. Hoping to stay dry

Setup again in the same stand as this morning. Ended up seeing 11 deer total this morning, and 6 of them took a trail that I have never seen taken in my 6 years of hunting here. I didn’t have time to cut more shooting lanes today but plan on cutting some tonight. Got setup an hour ago. Hurricane force winds it seems like in Monroe County.

10 point back through, a little ways up the hill now. Definitely on a hard pattern, may just have to hop out of the stand and pull some pop up blind heroics tomorrow. He has been the only deer so far. Since he is now clear, I’ll take a doe if I can get a shot.

I did make it out even with the threat of rain. I saw a squirrel at 7:30, and that was it.
Shooting like crazy from 7-8. It was dark and they were shooting. I couldn't believe how many rounds they were firing.
On camera, I did have a typical 8 and a narly looking buck, but big. I'd shoot him!
No buck day photos.
Not sure when I'll go back out.

I’m all tucked in a deadfall on the ground ready to go. Hunting HNF behind the camper this morning. Hear some acorns dropping, so that’s a good thing.

Ok, good enough light they can come through now. ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201002/bd280f59cc3f36a42de721e5a9f1c5d3.jpg)

That would have been a slam dunk! Tiny 6 point walked by the stand at 6 yards! I drew on him for fun after he got out to 20 yards! ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201002/3c256c524840f996c2110970edd25373.jpg)

Dang it. Dang it. Just missed a really big 8 pointer at no more than 15 yards. I drew and had to hold for a good while as he approached. Trying to turn a little as he went to my left. He finally cleared a tree and I shot. Bottom limb hit my leg and the shot went way low. Thought I had turned enough on my chair to avoid that but I guess not. But, being at eye level on the ground with that big dude that close was a rush.

I’ve had another big buck walk by since then, but way out of range. Also had some deer running the other side of this ridge I’m on. They’re moving this morning.

It think it's so cool how you guys get so excited. I wish I could experience it once. I feel nothing until I find him, then I'm excited!
When I see one, before the shot and after the shot. I feel nothing, but extreme focus on the job at hand. It is exciting to find it though. I really want that heart pounding excitement, but I'm afraid that I might miss. LOL
My heart was pounding when I walked in the bottom land yesterday, and that was going down the hill. I had to rest three times going back up. Think I'll take the ATV and hide it next time.
I have a question: Should I spray something one it or just hide it and let it cool down?

Saw 11 deer this morning. 2 small 6 pointers, 2 button bucks, and 7 does. That's the most I have ever seen in this little woods! Had that little 6 come by at 8 and then a few more about a half an hour later. Dropped a squirrel with the pellet gun at almost 9am. Got down and collected the squirrel and settled back into the stand after a bit. At 10:01 this nice doe drops by at 11 yards and gives me that perfect arrow-saving broadside shot. How was I supposed to pass that up with a freezer completely empty of deer? She made it 55 yards. I could have seen her drop if the leaves weren't so thick. Edit to upright squirrel pic. ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201002/253046b9d2cc8fc433c7e0342e90996c.jpg) ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201002/d1d2295ea1e92ba694eee2db773fff2d.jpg)

I'm heading out for my first sit this afternoon so we'll see what happens. Not going to shoot a buck this early in the year... unless a monster walks by.

I had to check to make sure that wasn't Harvey. LOL Congratulations man! What a great morning. That's a good looking doe. I would have seen one of the eleven ...the one wearing the cow bell. We need more cow bell!

Today's plan is to move 3/4 of a mile to the edge of a cut corn field. As much as I am tempted to sit where I was last night, I'm sticking to the playbook and moving around and hunting new and sometimes never before sat in spots.
It just seems to work.
