I had to check to make sure that wasn't Harvey. LOL Congratulations man! What a great morning. That's a good looking doe. I would have seen one of the eleven ...the one wearing the cow bell. We need more cow bell! Will Ferrel...can't stand that guy. It was the other fella, Christopher Walken, telling them they needed more cow bell.

Ah...yes I.....forgot about....him. Kinda hard to text like he talks. I'm not sure why, but I've always liked him. Maybe it does have something to do with that voice and his way. I'm just old.

2nd that on not shooting a buck unless it's a biggun. Starting to honor that most of the season nowadays.
Planning on getting a hunt in tomorrow morning. More so to enjoy the crisp fall day and reminisce than anything. If a big buck or big tom comes by, I will get excited.

We call it personal best. So most of us only shoots a buck every 3-10 years. We shoot a doe for freezer and then best buck hunt. Most of us are now 150 or better. I'm now 170 or better. Who knows if I shoot another buck. I do want to shoot a drop down buck.

Saw 11 deer this morning. 2 small 6 pointers, 2 button bucks, and 7 does. That's the most I have ever seen in this little woods! Had that little 6 come by at 8 and then a few more about a half an hour later. Dropped a squirrel with the pellet gun at almost 9am. Got down and collected the squirrel and settled back into the stand after a bit. At 10:01 this nice doe drops by at 11 yards and gives me that perfect arrow-saving broadside shot. How was I supposed to pass that up with a freezer completely empty of deer? She made it 55 yards. I could have seen her drop if the leaves weren't so thick. Edit to upright squirrel pic. ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201002/253046b9d2cc8fc433c7e0342e90996c.jpg) ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201002/d1d2295ea1e92ba694eee2db773fff2d.jpg) Congratulations!

On my way to Wyoming for the annual trip. Be hunting in the morning! Wasn’t sure I was going to make it. I brought something more than elk back from Colorado...... Covid.
A mild case, just like a bad cold, all good now!

A mild case, just like a bad cold, all good now! You guys are tough! That Covid just bounces off of you, or turns to run the other way. There's no doubt that it would kill me, but I'll live until it does. I'm thrilled that you get to go!!! I sure hope you get a good one.

Today's plan is to move 3/4 of a mile to the edge of a cut corn field. As much as I am tempted to sit where I was last night, I'm sticking to the playbook and moving around and hunting new and sometimes never before sat in spots. It just seems to work. All settled in. I'm not where I thought I would be. I expected the large cornfield that is always here. Instead I found 5 smaller cornfields, 3 of which are blinded to the road. I set up on the middle one thats adjacent to a big bedding area I scouted last year. Water to my back, and scent blowing into the field but away from the shots I care about. Kinda hoping a big buck cuts this corner next to the corn and gives me a 10 yard shot

Well a branch robbed me of a nice plump doe last night. Back at it again tonight. I’m hunting off a river between a swamp and woodland transition. Hoping I’ve got some bedding close by.

Trying new stand in fence row behind my house for first time tonight. I have corn behind me and to my right and beans to my left. Good to be 18 feet up a tree again. The world has changed a lot since my last deer hunt in December 2019. Been a rough year.

All settled in for the last half hour or so. Between two standing corn fields in a 75 yard wide woods. Really good rut spot but with falling acorns and corn, I figured I couldn’t go wrong. We shall see. Good luck guys.

Finally he gave me a slam dunk shot I hit him down he went I watched him hit the ground look left maybe 20 feet and a doe is watching the show she just stood there looking at me and the squirrel I knocked another one drew and let go. I laughed so hard I dang near fell out of the tree unbelievable yes but it happened Congrats on the doe and squirrel 😀

Brushed in the ground blind late last night. Set up with the 25 year old Horton crossbow! Didn’t cover the skyline as good as we thought in the dark. I’m sure the 10 saw it this morning. I slept in.One shooting lane on the path he keeps taking. All in. If he shows he is dead. Just need some luck, and hopefully a dumb early season buck.
