What a way to start the season off. I paddled my canoe into my spot on an island surrounded by marsh this morning. The huge moon, bright stars, fog on the water and a beaver slapping his tail in disgust....lol. Doesn’t get any better than that.
A deer moved through before shooting light. Nothing else so far.

Im just doing a morning sit to get an idea of deer moevment and while I was setting up i had two 6pts and 1 8pt with a heck of a lot of character cruise past me at about 40yrds around 7:35am i havent seen anything since but I gotta good feeling. I don't plan on shooting today, as I don't wanna tag out too soon haha but hey if he's big enough I'll let it fly. Good luck to everyone out today! may the deer be moving and your arrows shoot true, blood trails easy to follow and no snafus

There is a fox out in the beans that has them spooked. Cleared them out. Kinda surprised they were so spooked of the little guy. 🤔

Had a big ten get to about 30 yards. No shot... very limited shooting lanes in the stand I’m in. He took a very strange path through that I’ve never seen any deer take and I’ve been sitting this stand for 6 years now. I guess that’s why he’s alive! Unreal.

First time in years that I have hunted the opening day. I usually never hunt bow till around the end of the month. But had day off, decided I could not turn down this cool morning. Been slow other than the squirrel show. Same here. I had some bronchitis with a decent cough. Any other year I’d be at the office. Been working from home all week. Finally the dr told me yesterday she could give me a return to work slip for today.... I told her let’s shoot for Friday instead just to be safe😉

This sounds like my type of hunting. I love getting back in the nasty spots/swamps/marshes where no one else wants to go. It's like you're the only one on the planet surrounded by undisturbed, wild nature.

I’m scout/hunting a new area of Brookville for me. No deer, minimal sign, so I definitely haven’t found the spot(s) yet. Many hours to go...embarrassing how tired I already am after walking these hills for a few hours.

Signing in, hope everyone has been doing ok! I got into carp fishing to pass summer time. Patiently waiting for the 3rd week of October to start deer season, need some lower temps before driving the hour and a half to the woods. I see there is a jonsnowii is this the original Jonsnow? Hello butlerj, it seems that keen hunting eye has spotted the elusive jonsnow. I look forward to seeing your harvests and reading your adventures. Glad to hear from you buddy! Look forward to hearing your hunting adventures also!!!

Live from home, knocking out my yearly tradition. Normally its deer salami but I found some tenderloins in the bottom of the freezer. I always eat deer before the first hunt of the year.

Live from the woods this time, on the edge of some beans. I just picked a spot that had good visibility, its impossible to pick where these deer will go in the field. I can see several islands of trees, and bucks like to bed under them, so that's my main motivation.
This spot is also blind from the road, that's worked well for me in the past.

Let 3 does and a BB walk by. The lead doe was tempting. If I didn't have to work tomorrow morning she might have been in trouble.
