Some Mink Ranches went out of business in Wi a few years ago and I saw a barrel full of wooden Mink stretchers at a local (up there) antique store. I bought am armload of them for cheap, all IN need is to make the tapered boards that go under the hide so you can get it off the board once it's dried. If I don't use them, I sure can sell them for more than what I paid.

All traps are pulled but a few in good water current. We have a cold snap for a few days and we dont feel like breaking ice everyday to keep sets working. 12 degrees this morning. We are sitting at 178 beaver so far, will set back out on Tuesday for 1 more week of trapping.

You ever think of tanning some and selling them online. I see places that see them for good money.

How much snow did that storm dump on you guys last week? We only got a couple inches, more to the south of us. Snowed a little today but nothing stuck.

This topic sort of reminds me of that TV sitcom from the 60's LEAVE IT TO BEAVER when June Cleaver says......
"BUDD WEREN'T YOU A LITTLE RUFF ON THE BEAVER LAST NIGHT"!

Beaver are starting to get bite marks so we pulled everything but a couple spots for the county. We ended with 242. Brian should come close to beating our number, he went up north and said beaver sign is twice as much as around here, and has not seen another trapper. Dennis and I were competing with 4 other trappers in our area, as many as 3 trappers at one spot. Here is a picture of Dennis with a beaver caught in one of Old Arnies favorite niches. R.I.P. my friend.

Congrats on a great (to me) season!! Thank you. Even though I mentioned numbers, thats not why I trapped this spring. It was to help a friend that lost a trapping partner of 12 years and was having a tough time dealing with it. I had a blast and realized I really missed running a trap line.

Are there any Beavers left? What are the bite marks from, fighting? There are always beaver left..lol. In the spring when the 2 year olds start getting kicked out of ponds they start fighting for new territory. Other beaver starting biting the beaver stuck in your traps.
