Might try it again Tuesday since I had to take medical leave until Thursday. I saw that. Get better and follow Dr. orders. I tried the pond today since it was about 45% ice free. One nibble that took the waxworm, and a Golden Rainbow followed the jig and waxie to the bank. No other activity.

I managed to catch three small bass yesterday from a farm pond bank. Surprisingly, they were all in very shallow water. I spent an hour throwing a crank bait as far as I could to get out deep and got not even a bite. Switched to a simple white jig and caught three immediately.

I'll bet if you took the water temp you'd find the shallow water was warmer than the deep water and the fish will follow the warmer water in the early Spring. In a public lake I'd kill the fish fishing a very small finger in the lake where a stream entered. Water was warmer there then the rest of the lake and the bluegill would stack up, with the bass not too far behind.

Weve had just a skim of it here on a few days I believe deer season was colder than winter

A client near Brook Indiana had 2 days where he could ice fish his pond. He is doing good, I have set a harvest quota for him this winter and he's 70% there. Hybrid Bluegills and Yellow Perch.

Gonna try the stripper pits again in the morning. I've got more weapons of bass destruction to take with me so I'm hoping it goes better than it did Sunday.

Had a great day yesterday, probably caught over 100. Quit when we had our limit of 75, between 11 and 13 inches. Then dumped them back. Got more in the freezer now than we need. Caught all of them casting 1/16 ounce jigs, what a great time. Getting ready to do it again.
