Wooohooo. Got 2 places on a Lake Erie walleye charter reserved for me and my boy in May! Same buddy that hosted us on a steelhead charter last fall gave us the invite. First time over there! Excited!

Setting at the airport waiting to board for Florida. Going on a short trip fishing trip with a buddy. My brother has a place down there. Two double Bloody Marys and I am ready for the flight

Do you know where your fishing out of. The guy is out of Curtice, OH. just west of Port Huron. "Room for more Charters", 34' catamaran. He was at the South Bend Boat show a couple weeks ago. |

Not familiar with that charter but very familiar with that very same style of boat.
The one we fish off of is exactly the same kind, very stable, plenty of room and quick.
You don't take any equipment except a small backpack with your rain suits and maybe an extra sweatshirt.
We take a small cooler with just a couple sodas and maybe a half a sandwich, if the fishing is hot you won't have time to have a picnic.
You will be fishing about 25 miles east of where we fish you will be west of the reef complexes where the spawning grounds are.
Don't forget to tip your captain as well as your first mate.

Well fishing was not the greatest, but the time had was priceless. Thursday Brian, his roommate Butler, and myself each landed a Laker. I talked the boys into down sizing so we might catch some smaller fish for me to keep and smoke. We fished a midlake hump, 45-70ft of water. Brian pulled a walleye out of the 70 ft hole, unheard of!!!
Friday just Brian and myself, fished a steep edge drop-off. Several fish marked but nothing caught.
Saturday brother-in-law Darwin came up, Brian, and myself. Tried another midlake drop off with no luck, moved to Thursdays spot and Brian pulled two small lakers up in less that 5 minutes, I marked several, Darwin missed two and one 30+ pulled the hook at the bottom of the hole. All in all a great time spent on the ice with my son. This week my brother Rick and I are going to start working the gills at 3rd river.

Well it was a chilly day on the water but I enjoyed it. Didn't catch anything, but it beat the heck out of sitting in the house.
