There is nothing more exciting then doing battle with one of those in open waters. Some darn good eating there.

A couple more my boy caught recently. [url He had a big chinook follow his spinner right up to the shore, and he about had a heart attack. Lol. Maybe 15-20#. We saw a big one come upstream and into the hole we were working, so I presume it was the one.

Hey, if any of the fish have eggs, save them and I can brine them for you for bait.

Hit Monroe yesterday. Pulled jigs with crawlers, crankbaits and crawler harnesses
Caught an 11.5" crappie and a few nice gills and a few yellow bass. The walleye are still avoiding me!

Nice out there now isn’t it. Very few boats out there from what I saw from the causeway and Hardin ridge. Ours is still in the shop or I’d be out there as well.

Got the crossbow out today. Shooting high adjusted and back in the sweet spot. Just really hard to think about deer when it’s so warm out. Big bluegills are still hitting. Off all week so it will be fishing or getting a doe for freezer. Smoked a couple racks of ribs today for supper.

Deadeer came over and brought his son to fish in the pond. I stayed with his son, and he headed to the woods to see about getting some squirrels. The Hybrid Stripers were sure being picky today. VERY light bites, only hitting the tail hook on a suspending Husky Jerk when it paused. Here's the one I got, his son got one too when I tied this lure on his line. I lost 2-3 others that came unbuttoned, and he lost about the same amount. The one he caught came off the hook in the net. I don't care about the dirt on them, as they are getting yanked out of the pond, water is over 6' low and I am concerned about too much biomass in the remaining water. I'm estimating they are about 5#-6#, that's a 11.5 EEEE in the picture..... Here's what the pond looks like now. At full pool the post on the end of the pier, closest to the camera is below the top of the pier.

The water that is coming out of the pipe is coming from the pond. There is a 1 hp IIRC 10,000gpm pump on the pier that pumps pond water through 3 holding tanks then back to the pond - my pond is my filter.
The last time the pond was this low was when I renovated it and that was 2008. It was this low as it was filling up.
If this continues next year I will end up having to drop a well in just to keep the pond full. Plans are in the works to drop a well and have the well feed raceway fish holding tanks and the water will then go to the pond. Trying to figure out how to economically hold fish for retail sales, and only be open on one day during the weekend for pick-ups on an appointment basis, or only be open for "X" amount of hours. Nothing like that up here, aside from the fish trucks that stop once a month at the local feed stores.
Just have to figure out $$ to build, how big to build; I spent a day with the fish farmers in Arkansas picking their brains on what they have learned over the past 50-80 years of doing it, what worked, what didn't, etc., etc.
