Got a letter from fish and wildlife. The after the hunt survey is a dismal 2791 hunters who participated. That is sad with all the complaints, crying and whining about deer management. People are complaining about deer hunting and this was a great opportunity to collect data in each county for future reference. It was for better understanding of ecology, population and demographics at county levels.
Very few took the time on another management tool for the dnr to measure successful deer hunters at a COUNTY level everyone has been complaining about.

I got a letter as well (and my magnet)....the letter said that the turn-out on a county basis ranged from as few as 2 to a high of 49... For as much as everyone seems to want to complain about the deer and how they are managed we seem to have a lot of hunters who want to do only that...complain. The state gives us an opportunity to facilitate change and we just sit on our butt? It's going to be hard for the state to justify doing these sorts of things if we don't take advantage of them.
I don't really care what they use the info for...and I wish I had better info based on some of the questions they asked. But if they are trying to get a better grasp of what is actually out there and what we as hunters want...then we need to provide that information. Hopefully more hunters will participate next year.

Got to give them credit in at least trying to get surveys out for deer management. Maybe not the exact questions we would all like but it a step forward.

Got my letter and magnet today. The response was sad. Tons of whiners who will blow up forums, but cant take a few minutes to take a survey that'll help.

I didn't receive the survey. I contacted the biologist and he was supposed to try and get it to me, but it never happened...

This is the optional survey after you check in a deer online.

Joe expressed this as well in a meeting, boggles my mind at the sheer lack of care amongst Indiana deer hunters as a whole....social media hardheads that clearly don't care enough to at least take a few minutes and give Joe some data points to draw from.

I would like to see what the results of participation would be between the newer vs older generation of hunters, say teens-40yrs of age to that of 40 + yrs of age ?

Are you prompted to take this survey when you check in a deer, or do you have to seek it out? I can't remember if I took this one or not. Didn't check the mail last night either.

I feel not filling out this survey is just like voting during election season. If you don't do it you don't have the right to complain.

I'd like to know how many surveys were issued. I never received one either. If only 3000 were issued then those are pretty good odds. I've asked a few of my buddies and none of them can recollect getting a survey. I wonder how many surveys ended up in people's junk mail boxes and never got seen?

So how many surveys were there? Just one? I took the one referenced in the thread above, but that was in February, not after I checked a deer.
