Ok guys and gals… What are we shooting and hunting with? Here are mine. This is a 2001 Exomag with the forward riser that boosts it from 185# to about 210#. It is finished off with a Mark Henegar custom ordered silver/black laminated thumbhole stock. The Fall gray camo is by yours truly. My other shooter/hunter is a TenPoint QX4 Both bows are real smooth and accurate shooters. What's yours??

I have nothing special a Ranger II recurve and a Chinese Copy of a Barnett Wildcat that I just got from a friend. Both simple xbows but I did shoot two deer so far with the Ranger. The Ranger has a 3 dot red dot on it and the Wildcat copy I just put a cheap 22 scope on it for now.

Kevin have you used your ranger for hunting? I have shot two whitetails with mine so far. Who makes the Eagle?? I guess that is one I never heard of. Jim

It's sighted in for a 30 yard shot and will dot your eye if needed . I only found out that we could hunt with crossbows here 2 years ago , and we can only use it for deer during our late season . I haven't tried it for anything else yet , but woe betide the critter who stands in front of it at the wrong time . I'm not entirely certain who makes the Eagle-I since I bought it from Sportsman's Guide and they didn't identify the mfr. , although I suspect that it's made in China . The stock is nearly identical to the Ranger's , so it might be a Barnett , it doesn't say . It's powerful and accurate , and that's good enough .

Kev I have not seen the sportsmans choice catalog but I would bet that it is a Asian copy of a Barnett Wildcat. they make them with a full stock and a skeleton stock like you have. Some one just gave me one to use, one with the wood stock but I have not shot it yet. I did pad the prod with a leather piece on both sides to protect the prod from rubbing on the mount as that has been known to happen with the Barnetts and these and then the prod breaks. I did it to my Ranger too. I figured a little extra protection could not hurt. I got this prod problems from Lone Wolf on the excaliber site when I asked about these xbows there he had a Wildcat II. Jim www.sportsmansguide.com/This will take you to the Sportsman's Guide website , they have a lot of hunting gear , sometimes for amazing prices . They also carry a wide range of other goods too . Their customer service would put anyone else's to shame too . The Eagle-I that I have is in there for about $100 . Since you mentioned it , it does look like a Wildcat , which might answer some questions that I've had about Barnett . Excalibur it ain't , but I wouldn't want to be in front of it .

I'm using an Excalibur Exocet 175# in the deluxe hardwoods camo version. I took the DBs off, so I wouldn't have to remove the pads to unstring. I'm presently using a 2x magnification red-dot sight on it zeroed at 25 yards. Anything out to 30 yards is well inside the kill-zone for a deer. 30 yards is my self-imposed limit for deer hunting shot distance, so it should suffice

Kevin do not get me wrong I am saying there is nothing really wrong with them I have one too and it is a copy of a Barnett Wildcat with the solid wood stock. All I am saying is that the prods can wear and break unless you take precautions to stop it. That is why I put leather pads on both sides of my prods on both my Ranger and this chinese copy.My Ranger had no wear but I did it to it anyway but I could see on the Chinese copy that there were two spots where the fiberglass was showing under the black finish and starting to wear just slightly and this xbow has hardly been shot. Since fiberglass can splinter easy even though it is tough that is why I took the extra precaution it cannot hurt. Not knocking them I look forward to shooting this one, Just letting you know that the prods may need some extra protection to keep them in good shape. No they are no high priced xbow but I think for the price they are made very well and are exactly like a Barnett.

Thanks for the tip jh45gun , I don't think it will be an issue since the Eagle-I has a folding prod , and I don't leave it strung anyway . I also try not to draw it until I sense game approaching so that the stress to the prod is minimal . I hunt from pop-up blinds a lot , so I can get away with a lot of movement .
I haven't seen a Wildcat up close , does it have a foldable prod too ?

No the Wildcat has a fixed prod. Your Eagle is a Asian copy of a Barnett Delta Storm. Here is the Link: www.barnettcrossbows-uk.com/deltastorm.htmTHe UK division of Barnett makes Crossbows that the US division does not or at least does not list on their website. The Wildcat III looks a bit different than their Wildcat II model if you look at the link you posted for your Eagle and hit their crossbow link you will see they have a pic with several crossbows in it. One has a wood stock and wood forarm that is at the bottom of the metal frame. That is a copy of a Wildcat II which is what I have.
