I heard they are starting to get good numbers in central Missouri where I will be this weekend. I have never been snow goose hunting and saying I am pumped is an understatement.

Boys said the fields are flooded in Nebraska, geese everywhere but trying to get in the fields is a challenge.

Brian just called, they went to a area that’s flooded and will be spending the night helping people get their stuff up out of flood waters. Wherever they are there is a dam breaking. They will be helping people the next few days so there will be no hunting.

What was 1.4 million birds in the area has dropped to a reported 100-200K. My cousin went to the area last night to set up today and see what is around. Depending how that goes, I will either be meeting them there, or meeting in Iowa where they think they have flown to. We have a lot less access in Iowa than Missouri. |

Thank you all. What makes me feel even better is that I honestly thought that good old country kids were a thing of the past, my son hangs around with 6 other kids that hunt, fish, trap every free minute they have. They have all made it here to the house for a weekend of hunting,fishing,trapping and every one of them were polite, well mannered, clean cut kids. They all call home and give updates on how things are going. My boy is 19 and he will still tell me he loves me at the end of a phone call, even on speaker phone with his buddies around...feels good.

Weekend update - My cousin got to Missouri late Thursday night and set up fpor a Friday morning hunt to see what was around. He got 3 and saw thousands, so said lets stay there. Saturday morning we got 1 and had lots of birds working the decoys but wouldnt commit. Same thing saturday night. Spirits were down a bit heading into Sunday. Got a single early Sunday morning, then a group of 2 came in a bit later. 15+ shots later and we got 1 lol. A little after 9 we were talking about packing up and then a big flock of snows came up on the horizon way out. Said lets work these then call it a day. I had a 7 hour drive home and they were going to move up to Iowa. The group worked and 3 broke of and came committed in. We concluded it was 21 shots later that we got all 3. Was a great trip, we would have loved to get more birds, but we saw great numbers.
