Yes, provided your sitting still.

Thermacell has made early bow season hunting enjoyable again.

Yes, provided your sitting still. This, plus can't be too windy.

I think they work better than bug spray. Again mostly sitting still or not a lot of wind.

Works but generates some heat and scent. Noted, I'll avoid using it hunting then.

They also make earth scent pads if that gives you any more confidence. I wouldn't hunt early deer season in some spots without one.

The "heat" is very minimal and you'll only feel it if you put your hand on it. If the deer can smell the ThermaCell they can smell you too..

It works great! I'll have mine with me for squirrel, doves, early goose and early deer.

Just don't use the Thermacell unit inside a automobile as the fumes are not good for you to breath. Even with all the windows opened (including the sunroof and the back sliding glass window of the truck) the fumes got pretty bad. It kept the mosquitoes away but they were still trying to get into the drivers side window as I could hear them buzzing around outside the truck window. I was parked at Bluegrass on top of the hill looking out over the valley below and using a electronic game caller and trying to call in some coyotes nearby. All they did was bark back at me in defiance but it was too dark to see them without a light. And it was getting too dark to photograph them with regular photo equipment.
I've also used them when sitting out on the back deck and on the front porch at night. I have got to the point that I can't stand mosquitoes these days nor ticks. So due to some illnesses I'm not as active outside when it get's dark. Even during the daylight we have some Tiger Mosquitoes that are aggressive in the daylight and will aggressively try to bite you. Mosquitoes kill more people than any other animal. I have three of these units and have used them a lot and they work. But at times I need a gas mask to breath when the fumes get too great.
And as others have said they don't work that well if there is a wind. You have to start them up and let the fumes envelope your area for them to be effective. But like others said if the wind is strong the mosquitoes have a hard time flying. That may be why most mosquitoes only come out at night as usually the winds die down at night.
Did I say I hate mosquitoes?

I've used them during hunting season and never noticed that it kept any deer away. Moving fast to swat a mosquito? Deer will notice movement quickly and run.

Well, I bought one and used it while I was in Tennessee a couple weeks ago. Got bit a few times before I got it on and warmed up, never got more than a couple bites the rest of the time I was camping there.
Best $20 I've ever spent.

If you only spent $20 you haven't bought enough of them. 1 in my turkey vest. 1 in my squirrel vest. 1 in my camper. 1 in my deer back pack. 1 still in the box in the house in case I misplace one.....

After moving and unpacking things I'm up to three of the regular units as well as the lantern unit we use at the camper.
