Face shield is difference. I stated full face helmet. I'm a motorcycle rider and understands. Have lost friends on just a drop where the front broke off and cut his throat. Worst type of helmet to wear riding. I'm sorry to hear of your loss of a friend. But if the front of the helmet broke off it was cheaply made and not a quality helmet. Look me up at a sprint car track some night. My helmet lives in a violent world. No helmet should just break away. A couple years ago I took a spark plug to the mouth area of my helmet at Terra Haute, running well over 100mph. It hit so hard that there was thread marks in the outer layer but NO cracking or breaks. I have always been told if you don't wear a Simpson or Bell helmet you must have a 10 dollar head. If it's worth less than 10 dollars, don't wear a helmet at all. After getting my cornea scratched by a pine needle one day riding my snowmobile without a helmet I went out and bought a full face Simpson helmet. To date it, it was probably the first generation of this style Simpson I also ended up using it when I was drag racing until the SFI date expired. P had a few instances where I would have gotten boogered up if I didn't have it on.....

I spent four years working at Cincinnati Children's Hospital way back in 1980-1983. One of my areas was to monitor and validate the electrical equipment in the ER. I seen more dead or near death young women and men (12-17) and blood everywhere. I did not like working the 4am start time on every 4th Saturday. I seen my share.

Now, I do Industrial cloud data programming. Who knew I would start with BMET equipment and now be in the clouds. Sometimes stuck in the fog.LOL
