Please explain? I wear one every Friday and Saturday night. In a car and or closed in cage, it's probably okay. For open rides like motorcycle, ATV, tractors etc. just guess where the front plastic part of the helmet goes when someone lands face first and or side/front first. There are stories after stories about full face helmets. Face, top of face, and side-front are most common. 70 MPH get a stone or any object in your eye you will know why you want a face shield.

Face shield is difference. I stated full face helmet. I'm a motorcycle rider and understands. Have lost friends on just a drop where the front broke off and cut his throat. Worst type of helmet to wear riding.

When the military started using helmets, the head injuries went up.
...fatalities went down.

But if the front of the helmet broke off it was cheaply made and not a quality helmet. Look me up at a sprint car track some night. My helmet lives in a violent world. No helmet should just break away. A couple years ago I took a spark plug to the mouth area of my helmet at Terra Haute, running well over 100mph. It hit so hard that there was thread marks in the outer layer but NO cracking or breaks. I have always been told if you don't wear a Simpson or Bell helmet you must have a 10 dollar head. If it's worth less than 10 dollars, don't wear a helmet at all.

I have only one grandson he is my best hunting/fishing partner and I trust him to drive my Kawasaki Mule however I would never forgive myself if he was seriously injured or worse yet died of a head injury because I didn't require him to wear a helmet.
Not all ATV accidents are the operators fault sometimes it's some unforeseen thing that is responsible and that extra bit of protection is great to have in that moment.
How many of your children are you willing to sacrifice?
Take it from HORNZILLA a good helmet saves lives.

I do pray for the people involved in these ATV accidents.
If the victim is deceased they are beyond prayers. If they are injured I'll pray for a speedy and complete recovery. Both ways I'll pray for the family, friends AND the first responders for peace and comfort..
I can not imagine anything worse than losing a child. I also can't imagine what a first responder or CO goes through at a fatal accident Involving a child...and then has to inform the parents..
They call it SAFETY equipment for a reason...

Funny story...previous employer had a safety presentation that I was asked to review. One of the slide stated employees are more likely to be hurt wearing PPE than not wearing.
I asked the safety guy if that was the right message we were trying to portray. He said of course. He told me that we want people to be more careful. So I said I will be by not wearing my PPE. He just could not understand my point.

I see we've now made the jump to apples to elephants. I'll check back in a couple days to see how far we've gone.

In the workplace PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is the last resort. The first thing to do is attempt to eliminate ,or at least minimize, the hazard. That can be done in a lot of instances but not always..
The PPE is the last line of defense.

At 20 years old my full face Bell helmet held together enough to keep my melon intact and firmly placed above my shoulders. It was shattered and the eye shield knob was ground completely off but I walked away with just a little rash.
For quite some time, Indiana has had a law requiring anyone under the age of 18 to wear helmet on a motorcycle. I can't figure out why requiring that same protection for anyone under 18 on an ATV causes such decent.

Over the years I've had a few friends die with helmets on and helmets off, all were on motorcycles or suicide ponys. Atv's, I've seen news stories of deaths. If its your time its your time, ain't going to change it. I personally do not wear a helmet on my atv, but then again I'm on my property going about 2 mph. In my ranger crew I have a roll bar and aluminum top and wear a seat belt. I have no knowledge or stats to back this up but if you act stupid on any motorized vehicle your probably going to get hurt sooner or later.

There ya go folks. Jack thinks grown adults should be able to do whatever they want. I guess that means whoever wants a new gun can go on over and pick one, or all, of his out.
