Evil kaneval ever jump without a helmet? Did he get paralyzed? I really dont know. I typically am against the state mandating anything like this. I don't do motorcycles or have a 4 wheeler so don't have a valid opinion either way. But i do find it funny that bikers want everyone to watch out for their safety except themselves. I see bikers in tennis shoes, shorts, tshirts and no helmet all the time and when i used to drive interstates a lot, always a biker or two weaving between lanes to squeeze through. I know this isn"t every biker but just like the hunting world a few reckless ones make the whole community look bad. So you've never ridden, or know the loss of perifferal vision and hearing abilities while wearing a helmet? To each his own. Many want to outlaw guns because people are hurt by them....or mandate "smart" guns

Could start a new thread
" And some people still don't think we need gun laws"
Easy to support regulations against those activities you don't participate in or be affected by....all in the name of saving someone
Pffft

I rode in to meet my wife for lunch today, no helmet, tennis shoes.
The whole time I was thinking about this thread and it just infuriates me. EVERY WHERE I looked, I saw people walking about in the sun. Short hair, bald heads, arms and legs completely uncovered AND MORE. It is absolutely proven beyond the shadow of a doubt the sun damages skin and causes cancer in humans. NO ONE was wearing any sun screen or making the slightest attempt to protect them selves EXCEPT ME!
I've never seen better proof in my life we absolutely need a law requiring people to wear protective clothing at all times AND sun screen. It is ridiculous I have to subsidize these heathen sun worshipers deliberately jacking up my insurance rates with their idiotic refusal to even take the most basic steps to protect their selves.
At the least we should allow insurance companies to deny claims for skin cancer and cataracts to people who have exposed them selves to risk of this KNOWN hazard.

My thoughts on the subject of helmets and seatbelts is simple. Let the insurance companies institute a clause that they are exempted from paying claims if the injured party was not wearing either a helmet or seatbelt. I also believe that any parent that willingly allows a child to operate an ATV larger than they are approved for or without a helmet should face child endangerment charges. Ding, Ding, Ding!!! We have a winner!!!!! My friend bought a Polaris RZR because he wanted a roll bar on the "ATV" when his kids were driving it. They still had to wear helmets and the seat belts, and I put roll bar padding on it like the drag racers use. Both boys rolled it and had no injuries. For all the naysayers out there saying that helmets don't do any good. tell me why all the racing sanctioning bodies require helmets and protective gear?

I do agree the state should let grown people make decisions for themselves not make more laws that are loosly enforced.

People who refuse to acquiesce to proven science and protect children from a life time of skin cancer should have their children taken away. They aren't fit to raise another generation of skin cancer deniers.

The state should hand out hefty fines to those mutant pigment hogs to build a fund and buy sun screen for the normally pigmented equalizing the availability to make fair use of the sun for all.

maybe require health insurance and organ donation, then ride on! One of my former girlfriends that was a nurse said the bikers with no helmets make the best organ donors.

Good Lord. People these days would have outlawed the three wheeler before it even got to production.
Look where we are now in the ATV world thanks to us having and enjoying three wheelers... adding features all the time to make it safer for Darwin Award winners.
As far as the new ATV helmet law, what happens on private property should be private.

I just putt around on mine and sure wouldn't want a helmet on my head. I could see myself in the sweltering heat working the plot for hours wearing a helmet. This being said, when I was young and snowmobiling, I wore a helmet. Of course it was cold, but the way I rode it, I needed a helmet ...not the way I ride my ATV.
I've died once; I'll take the chance working my plot without one. It would be like wearing one on a tractor. Good luck with that.

For open rides like motorcycle, ATV, tractors etc. just guess where the front plastic part of the helmet goes when someone lands face first and or side/front first. There are stories after stories about full face helmets. Face, top of face, and side-front are most common.

Day light savings time is just a camel's nose in to what NEEDS to be done. Now that we've proven the government has the ability and the right to arbitrarily declare the amount of sunlight we are allowed to enjoy and randomly force the shee..,ah,er, the citizens to change their clocks to and fro completely disrupting every nuance of the lives ON COMMAND.
I am proposing the president take it straight to the logical conclusion and order the CIA to covertly hack the entire country's network of time keeping and flip every time piece in the country 12 hours forward at midnight Saturday. Protecting the populace from the scourge of skin cancer as they go about their daily activity in complete darkness. It's the only way we can protect the children from their stupid parents who won't spend a few cents to protect them with sun screen.
We have to do it, if it will save even just one child from a life time of hell suffering with skin cancer.
