Wow some useful information after 632 post. Thank you. Please feel free to post any information that you have on hunting, fishing or trapping. Unless you just specialize in English teaching. I did not do well in school in spelling or english. I also did not register here to be critique on my spelling or English. I registered here to learn about hunting an have my hunting abilies critiqed. Thank you. Onebentarrow. ^^^^^ THIS Good Spelling and the Queen's Proper English is not a requisite to be on here. If we can read it and know what the poster means that is 110% good enough. Any "I'm smarter than another person" post is very much frowned upon here.

Although I am smarter than most it probably is just my youth but I think we miss out on a lot of posters because they've been jumped for improper grammar. It is ok to correct (Not Ronald) Reagan and poc though

Guess who's getting cut firewood delivered to his house. I bet it's not you, but you gotta have a place to go and warm up when building the new carport

How many accidents/incidents involving HPR's were there this past season? Just curious. No, I don't own any nor do I plan to buy one. To the best of my knowledge, ZERO accidents occurred while hunting with an hpr this past season... If someone knows differently, please correct me. There were quite a few treestand accidents but no fatalities this year due to fall. Some firearms accidents (<10) but none with a rifle. I asked Colonel Danny East and the Lt. Col of Law Enforcement about a month ago. Email is around here somewhere.

Found the email:
"While we are still screening the reports, we have had 45 hunting incidents with 26 involving tree stands. The majority of our tree stand accidents involve lock-on stands with the primary cause being broken straps. We will continue to stress the importance of checking your equipment on a regular basis which we hope will reduce this number. While we have always emphasized the need to conduct these inspections, repetition is what will eventually win out on reducing the overall impact."
They are still looking at the number of firearms accidents but no fatalities. There is at least one crossbow accident, too.

Yesterday HB 1415 passed the House by a vote of 81 to 7. The bill now moves over to the Senate. There it will likely be assigned to the Senate Natural Resources Committee for its consideration.

Maybe by the end of the trial period this bill will be straightened out. Then they can add these rifles to be used on public land.

I would not want rifles on public land for opening weekend. After that is fine, I'd love to use my 6.5x55 or .270win.

update---apparently this bill went straight thru the Senate NaturalResources committee with flying colors as it now referred to the Senate. Didn't hurt that this was the annual DNR "houskeeping bill" and the chair of the Senate Natural Resources committee,Glick was the senate sponsor. Woody, You can start practicing with 25-06.

I saw yesterday that Senator Glick was the Senate Sponsor and wondered how that would turn out, considering she opposed the HPR bill last year to the point of refusing to hear it unless it was watered down. I'm glad to hear that they let it slide right on through to the full Senate. If no more amendments are added, it'll be a quick and easy process. I'd hate to see it go to a conference committee again. Lol!
