Cell signal has been scetchy, but we hunted from daylight until dark yesterday. Worked 13 different gobblers. Saw 9 that there was no way we could set up on them. Called in 9 jakes and saw 23 total. Never fired a shot. Got up this morning and hit a different ranch. Heard several birds at daylight and got set up on one shortly after. He came across the pasture and right up to the decoys. My brother in law shot the bird (and my DSD jake). 21 lb, 9.5" beard and 1 3/8" spurs. An absolute trophy of a pure Merriam that is going on the wall. We relocated and was doing some calling and walking when I heard a bird drumming. We set down and two gobblers came in. I shot them both. 21lb, 1 1/8" spurs and 9" beard and 23 lb, 1" spurs and 10" beard. You guy tore them up; congrats to you both. (how's the Jake!?)

Hunted today, worked 3 gobblers, all henned up...had one gobbler working in to my setup really well he was about 70 yards and coming when a hen pops up on the ridge, out of the holler, below me, she walks right to the gobbler, he goes silent and they feed off in opposite direction...the property I'm hunting is loaded with hens everywhere...been tough couple days..but I look for the hunting to get better later this week...good news is, lots of birds this year.

Good morning all! Beautiful morning out in God's grocery store! Little breezy but the birds are gobbling. 37 degrees here. On a positive note, I'm saving a fortune on thermacell refills this year! Good luck, stay safe, have fun and God Bless!

I thought I had him pegged. The loud mouth gobbler that's been in my head since opening day. He does a lot of talking! This morning I was able to set up a mere 60 yards from his roost and we were having a good conversation. Then it happened. Very soft helps (in her best 1-900 voice might I add) coming from directly in between us. He flew down to her. I couldn't see it but I swear I heard her slapping him around a little for talking to "another woman"! Time to sit and wait now....

Got on 2 gobblers and a few jakes right at daylight. They flew down all around us, but the gobblers only came to the top of the hill to check us out and wouldn't commit.
Tried following them up the canyon, but they got quiet. We waited them out and had a different bird gobble. Couldn't get him to do anything, so me moved on in the direction the first ground went. 45 minutes later he was standing in the middle of the prairie looking for us. Couldn't get him to commit, so he walked off. Right now just looking for sheds. Found 2 left sides of 8 pointers so far.

Done for the day. Made a move on that loud mouth bird. He was in the same spot for about 50 minutes gobbling so I decided to make a move. He was gone and quiet by the time i arrived. Never actually made a sound once I started moving.
Came back to the original spot and a hen that had been around all morning was still there. She seen me and acted surprised for just a second but went back feeding as if I wasn't there. I can hear what she was saying, "Oh thank God it's just Brandon. I thought it was a hunter for a minute!"

Post live report. Hit the woods at Missi at 5:15 this morning. First day of my three day reserved hunt. Went to the north side of the lake on 925 S. Looked like a great spot when I scouted. Alternating bean and corn fields with a fair amount of crop left and trees left between the fields. Started calling at sunrise. Nothing. Kept calling, no sounds other than the type of birds I am not hunting. After a few hours I left and headed north up 13 to 650. Went west to 800 and circled the area via 800 and 750. Came back out on 650. Found my spot for tomorrow. Didn't hear a shot and saw less than 5 vehicles.

Noble County gobbler down. I took this 24# tom at 9:20 today from 22 yds. It was very quiet today, no gobbles at all early. I was within 30 minutes of giving up for the day after calling all morning & hearing nothing when a thundering gobble came from my right. It moved to my left & was a lot closer. I peeked out of my blind & saw a turkey, then two turkeys. They came up to my decoys & strutted & drummed. Great show, easy shot. The big one is now on the way to the smoker. The second one will be next year. www.dropbox.com/s/o4pfto7dqgp39bb/TURKEY010%202015.JPG?dl=0

My buddy/lease partner killed a jake from a group of 5 in Metamora this morning. I've got this weekend left to try and get it done.

Congrats to all you successful fellas. My opener got derailed with what I thought was the flu, so I rode it out and rested up for a weekend draw hunt. But it kept getting worse and I hate the hospital, so I suffered like an idiot all weekend for the family doc today to determine it's, pneumonia! Don't be an idiot. If you know you aren't feeling right, man up and get it checked out. So now I have several more days off with no chance of hunting at all. Dummy.

Good morning all! Been set up for a few moments now. As I was walking in I heard loud mouth fire off his first gobble at 4:52. Set up close again. Threw a strutter and hen decoy out but, as hard as it may be, I'm going to remain silent until after fly down. I am hoping this will keep the hen from walking him the other way. Good luck, stay safe, have fun and God Bless!

Been seeing birds in fields everywhere since daylight. Beautiful morning
Wish it was a live from the turkey woods ppost, but it's more of a live from the truck post. Eight hours down, seven to go. Home in time to maybe get a little scouting in this evening.
