The Bobcats came back. They got within 50 yards of the blind and they must have saw me as they took off running. I hope they run a looonnggg way.
I don't think I'll get much turkey action with two cats on the prowl.

Oh for my GoPro...or bowhunterjohn! Neither of which are with me! We just had a Jake sneak past us from the woods. I never heard or saw him until he broke the field and strutted toward the funky chicken. At this point my buddy decided he would pass on a Jake and see what progressed. Cool with that we just sat and watched. For the better part of 5 minutes da jakester put a major whoopin on my chicken. Absolutely beat the daylights out of him. Then he spooked and ran back into the woods. Hoping something larger lurks behind us!

Action again. Got 7 hens amongst the dekes now. I'm only using a new diaphragm call custom by a buddy in Indy and the wingbone yelper from my Buddy's tom last year. The wingbone is absolutely the berries...best response I've ever had as far as hens on the roost. Right now...just soft purrs on mouth call.

The hens left. And unfortunately we've got to go now, too. A great morning with an opportunity passed up and we're both cool with that.

Had the craziest thing happen to me yesterday. Worked a a real nice tom into about 75 yards. Had gun on my knee, red dot on and safety off. Just a few mores steps and I finally would fill my Indiana tag. Then out of know where 3 hens come running in from behind me and go flying by me full speed at about 10 yards. Go running up to Tom and of course he follows them away. I sat there for probably 10 mins and could not believe what just happened. It was like they did it on purpose. They didn't want this strange hen taking their man. Has anybody ever had this happen to them?

Congratulations! You've just been cut off by hens! Lol! One of the most frustrating things about turkey hunting is a hen coming in between you and a Tom and walking him off the field.

Can't seem to keep a cell signal but on wifi. Very strange! Taking a lil break here. Buddy collecting himself. Just had a black snake slither past his legs. I'm just starting at my dysfunctional love triangle. A cheap foam hen, an inflatable hen and the Funky Chicken! Too funny. I have the same menage a trois. Can't get them to stop fighting. He did that. She did that. On and on....

I had this happen this morning. I thought it was going to be a bang up deal. At daybreak 2 birds fire up. I'm close to them. I had seen them there a couple times. So I went in early. Set up a hen and stutter decoy. 15 minutes after light here comes 2 hens. They walk between me and decoys. There 40/50 yards past me when the boys come into field. Ok. It's a done deal. I'm between live hens, decoys, and toms. They gooble. They strutt. They drum. It's a nice show. Then the hens walk back past me. Hook up with the toms and they proceed to make a 200 yard circle around me and gone. I love turkey hunting.

Set up on a bird too far away to feel like he would come in but tried anyway. Heard a closer bird gobble 2 times on the ground. Should have paid more attention to him. 20 minutes later he was 10 yards away 90° from where my gun was pointing. Saw something he didn't like, got nervous and started walking off. 35 yards away I missed. Watched him fly 200 yards like nothing was wrong.
Going to try again on this other bird that is gobbling.

Ok this is the video from me and my wife's turkey hunt. I am not very good at editing and there is some spots where the caption speed is way too fast. There is also a portion about 30 seconds in that show "Credits" but there is more footage I promise! LOL! www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7eHnlluu5w

Out on the same property as last week. Working midnight shift, 11-7, is killing my hunting. This is usually a good early morning spot, but I can't make it here in time. Gonna try setting up close to their roost area again.

Had a bird start gobbling at 455. Called him in to about 60 yards, but he was on the neighbors and wouldn't come any closer. Went down the back side of the ridge gobbling occasionally. Big mature bird. Hopefully he'll come back to roost.
