Yes it is kind of relates back to a previous discussion here don't it . If anyone noticed he was no less than 6 the rest are more deer a year over the last 7 years except the last and it was 4.Those were the big push to reduce the herd years . FYI I don't miss my tags its just so much easier to bring it strait home and enter it and get to processing it .MY big count years were in the early mid 1990s .

So I have a bit of buying into the QDMA playbook /DNR kill em if its legal experience but mine was about 23 years ago for about 6 years as well and now I know ill-advised at that time frame it was too much too early . But the land and deer recovered in about 3 -5 years Much younger and excited to hunt but was hunting 3 counties back then and lived in another county than the one I now live in .I was the only hunter on a sq country mile back then as well other than any hunter I invited to hunt with me on any given day .Its funny I still have all my tags as well in the garage collecting dust .I have not gotten a single tag since the comp check started .

That's access to more land to hunt than I've had in 5 decades......in the county I was born in.

I am sure you are but MAKE SURE you go out of your way to do ANYTHING for the land owner(s) you can.

Imagine if you will what your deer hunting would be like LOSING the right to hunt that 3500 acres.....all at once.

It happens and almost always it is devastating to the hunter. A story I know well myself and you can find others here who posted similar stories and I don't recall any story involving that kind of acreage.

Within my life "the hunt" went from finding a buck TO hunt decades ago to finding a place to hunt ......at all.

Never take it for granted you will have a place even when promised you would be able to till you die by family friends, generations deep. Such was the case for me...yet it was taken away when OTHER generations came into the family.

I've had other patches of ground to hunt over the years but none lasted long, normally leased out from under me when the owner who said it shouldn't be about money and would not lease it to me.....leased it to big money out of state or out of the county.

The recent one was only 80 acres but I took over 70 deer from there over the decades. Being land I walked as a child behind my Dad along side the patriarch of the owning family losing the right to hunt it only pales in comparison in grief to what I know it caused the wife of the original owner, now in her 80s, due to grand children and their husbands constant harassment annually demanding that "family comes first" and they were not willing to "share".......even though all of them own their OWN land.

Not knowing the situation, I've no idea about what the property type is like or the location but I don't need to either, IMO. Anything that size near me is either leased.......or is totally shut off from hunting. The same goes for anything 1/10 that size if it contains good habitat.

Such is going to come sooner or later. Do your best to be the one that ends up with your favorite spot and always recall too that even when leasing, it only takes one incident to cause the owner to sell.

I've two sons that I have always regretted that they do not hunt nor take any interest other than caring enough to say "good job, Dad" when they happen to swing by when I have a good season but in retrospect, them not hunting has lessened the grief for if they did I would spend more time finding a spot for them to hunt than I do for myself.

For 2015, my "prime" spot doesn't have a tree within 200 yards of where I plan to sit and those few trees are on a property I can't even go GET a deer if it makes it that far. This is a far cry from the thick creek bottoms I hunted the past 45 years.

I have about 3/4 of the metal tags that I have been issued hanging on a string in my reloading room. The dates and weapon and what deer it belonged to was written in Sharpie on each one. A couple were lost by the processor and I have never gotten back any from the deer that I have given away even though I asked for the tags to be returned when they were done with them.

I've got all the tags for my deer except the first one which was in Kentucky and the one this year because I did it online. I don't have near that many though

I won't miss them they sure were hard on a sharp knife when trying to skin deer I hated that

If you had to buy every tag would you have still shot this many Deer???
