Well, I am ready to roll over - I have been a half a.. Obama supporter and now I am done. I actually voted for him last time because there was no way my conscience would let me vote for Mitt Romney. Somebody tell me that the Republicans will come up with a better candidate next time, please, that will beat Hillary. McCain could have won with someone besides Palin, and Romney the billionaire could never connect with the people because he has no concept of a working man's life.
So where are headed here? Opinions?

Republicans look poised to make the same mistake again ..... put someone through the primary that has little chance of winning a general election.
Its early yet though.....
The best hope might be keeping control of the house..... maybe picking up some seats in the Senate ..... and not worrying about the WH.
I actually hope we keep a split govt..... neither party is bright enough to have control of all 3.

You have to admit, they are consistent.

You all can say what you want but I firmly believe that Romney would have the economy is a lot better shape than Obama ever thought he could. Everything, and I do mean evrything, Obama has done is been destructive to a recovery.
Romney's truthful statement on the "47%" was a killer. Couple that with Obama's out and out lie that "we could keep our health plans" made the difference.
No Dem will run on the Obamacare platform. If I was the Republican running against them I'd beat them over the head with ObamaCare..
The biggest fiasco I have seen in my 74 years.....

My opinion is that we are becoming a nation where a growing percentage of us are lazy and unemployable ...... I am paying less and less attention to the "unemployment rate". I know plenty of places that are looking for good people and cannot find them.
So .... ignoring that .... the stock market is near an all time high. My house has not fallen in value (it was not over valued to begin with). I am not in debt. I am making more money than ever before.
Curious Woody ... and this is a serious question .... in your own opinion where should the economy really be at?
IMO the economy should be much worse .... at least for a period of time. It would take some time to work things out if the "swilk" vision of our country was implemented. Taking assistance away from that many people .... eliminating govt employees .... eliminating govt agencies .... For a short period of time it would be really, really ugly.

I still think he would have won though, if Hurricane Sandy hadn't hit a week before the election. All we saw for the last several days, wherever you turned the channel, was how helpful and sympathetic Obama was to the victims, "republicans" like Christie patting him on the back, etc. Even Fox was afraid to beat on Obama too much those last few days, for fear of not appearing sympathetic to the Sandy victims. Seems like that was about the time when the polling started favoring Obama again.

You have to admit, they are consistent. I don't know. I didn't think "W" had any chance of getting elected to a second term, right up until the point the dems picked John Kerry to run against him.

I like Paul Ryan myself. Or Uncle Ted. Or even a dancing monkey with a cute hat. Anything but what we have now! All seriousness, I like Paul Ryan

Too much power is just not good for humans to have.

Curious Woody ... and this is a serious question .... in your own opinion where should the economy really be at? I'm not trying to speak for Woody, but it should be better. Lots of people hate Romney for his wealth, but his wealth is of no concern to me. Lots didn't like that he was a Mormon. The Christian right makes up a lot of the conservative vote, but many didn't vote for him. Romney knows business and this is what has made our country great, business, entrepreneurs, manufacturing ...jobs for the masses! Trickle down it does, and those taking the most risk should get rained on, not just a trickle. Problem now is that there is no risk ...Sam pays the bills with our money. So, where should we be and what might Romney have done? Open the pipeline! This would have been a big positive for our economy. Real stimulation is lowering the tax burden. Don't force businesses to hire, give them real incentives. Second big step could have been to allow businesses to bring back all the trillions of dollars held in foreign countries at a very low tax rate or tax free IF the money is reinvested in American Jobs! These two steps alone would have kick started the BIG TRAIN of our economy.
Our economy is huge and it can take a while to slow it down or speed it up like a locomotive; however, even trains can come to a crashing halt. Once true growth and momentum is felt, people jump on the band wagon.
The simple fact is that the direction our government is taking us will destroy us! IT'S UNSUSTAINABLE!

A nice thought, Jon, but if he did that Obeyme would have to give up his quest to be King of the World and just settle for being a good leader. Never happen.

A couple of projects is not suddenly going to make the markets go higher or the unemployment rate lower. Without the Senate there is no guarantee he could have pushed the Pipeline through anyway. "Allow businesses to bring back all the trillions ...." ... that alone would not be within the power of the POTUS either and I dont see businesses doing anything of the sort until our tax structure changes. With Romney in charge we might all feel a little better .... but things would be about the same as they are now.

Even Obamacare would still be here .... there is no way in hell it would get through the Senate. Reid would rather ride that sinking ship to the bottom of the ocean than do away with it. Now if Romney had won and the Republicans had taken the Senate and kept the house .... Obamacare would be history, the pipeline would be open .... and Republicans would be doing things to off a bunch of folks like they always do. Spending money. Restricting our rights. Sicking our military on everyone. My life would be just about the exact same as it is today.

Sicking our military on everyone. My life would be just about the exact same as it is today. I respect your opinion, and really appreciate your ability to express it. I guess it doesn't matter who is in the White House if their hands are totally tied. However, Obeyme, doesn't have the House, but has gotten his way. Yes, these two major steps would get us in the right direction ...cure all or make perfect, never as long as we're human. These steps would have stimulated, which is what Obeyme has failed to do. If conservatives were in charge: The first thing any conservative president would have done would be to repeal Obamacare, and not a monumental task now that the public knows a little of what's in it. They would make people angry??? sure! ...the ones who what to get a free ride. Do you think people aren't "upset" with our current administration? Restricting our right??? I'm more upset that they're taking them away. If one is a man wanting to marry a man, well yes, they may see their rights being restricted. If one feels that they have the right to a free ride, then yes they will be upset. Sicking our military on everyone??? We would be respected and feared for our power instead of a mockery to the world. Mr. swilk, if exactly what you are saying is true, then we are all doomed. I actually think that we are doomed as a nation and people, but voting in a conservative would have delayed it a bit. The organization which really runs the world want's this for America sooner than later, and so it is.

if Romney had won and the Democrats still control the Senate Obamacare would not have been repealed.
Obama has pretty much been a lame duck ever since the Republicans got control of the House.
