Great buck; those 357 rifles won't hardly kill anything will they! That's what they say haha. I was actually doubting it this year and almost went with a .44. The buck I shot last year ran over 300 yards after putting 2 in him. Including one lung with a hell of a hole through it. The hornadys seemed to be shooting too fast and flying through without expanding. This year I went to a heavy grain and it did the trick!

She shot a buck and it ran off, no blood at all. Went to last spot she saw it and he layed dead about 10 yrd further. Tried to backtrack and find blood, none at all.

Exactly what happened to my neice. She shot a buck and it ran off, no blood at all. Went to last spot she saw it and he layed dead about 10 yrd further. Tried to backtrack and find blood, none at all. Yeah it was pretty crazy. Considering I knew I put a pretty good shot on him plus an extra one as he was limping off. Blood was very spotty. I think because the .357 is such a small caliber, if the hollow point doesn't expand it seems to be like shooting one with a field point. Atleast that was what the diameter of the hole looked like. I felt very lucky to find the deer. I know some disagree with the caliber being used for deer, but it is deadly accurate in my experience. Wiith the right placement, it will drop a big boy.

Non-typical 9-pointer down at Big Oaks. Not real big but lots of character. Will post story and pics later when I have a better signal.

Never made it to My stand. Big Doe hanging in the Barn now.. About half way to the stand at 8;30 this AM a big doe was watching me walk by at about 20 yards. I just love the WSG and the way deer act in it , perfect shot with a 240xtp in a Omega by TC and good hanging weather to boot

John made a straight on heart shot, it went 20yds and piled up. Heart was in in pieces when I opened her up; she's a very good doe. That 357Max with 180gr SSP's has worked great every time it's connected on one.

Great job on taking that doe down, John! My daughter and I are back In the woods this afternoon. We are on the most western part of the property overlooking a valley leading out to a pipeline. Wind is perfect for this location, but just wish it wasn't so strong. Fingers crossed, something walks by tonight.

I think we need to start a thread " live from the fireplace after a cold and windy hunt" WOW! It was brutal out there this evening and I wasn't quite prepared. I needed my Cooooold weather gear, when the sun went down. And to top it off, all we saw was a turkey go to roost and 1 squirrel chewing on a nut. Can't wait til morning, because I think they will be moving, just to stay warm.

Daughter and I are back at it. Today we are located in a narrow woods that I shot my 1st deer in, 35 yrs ago. 20 minutes before shooting light, we had a deer come cursing through. I think this is going to be the morning for my daughter to put the hammer down on one. Good luck everyone and. Stay warm:)
