OK I lied - I'm out. Rain has quit; maybe even in this wind something will move for me

I went out but saw lightening and decided to come in. My husband and boys are in blinds. I am keeping eye on weather radar for any bad storm for now so I can text them to come in. Got to say it was nice and quiet, only one shot at 7:30 a.m. right now weather is holding, hope the boys see something.

Not live or from the blind.... Storms were bad enough that we went total blackout a work last night. Checked on brother, neice, and daughter in camper at camp and was told that it was a mess and not even worry about hunting. By the time I got there, the wind had laid down and the sun had popped out. We set out about 9, spooked one buck out of the field 200 yards from the camper and one doe bedded 70 yards from the blind. At about 10:15 Stephanie decides I am a crazy person because I know I heard something. Finally a deer materializes standing right in the scrape we are hunting over. By over, I truly mean over. We are about 35 feet up a sheer bank overlooking a creek bottom. The deer is only 10 yards out, plus the 10 yards down. I need this guy to go left 5 feet to be in the open shooting lane and completely broadside, or I need him to stand still for another 30 seconds so she can get a solid aim on him. You guessed it, he did neither. He took two steps forward and behind a tree where she can't get a shot. Steph ansked If I had a shot on him, I said yes but I wanted her to get one. Her response was, kill him! I settled the blade sight of the 45 caliber long rifle just in front of his left shoulder (quartering to me) and let the smoke roll. I found out I may have loaded tat one a little hot. Big puff of white and dead silence from my right ear (I can actually hear again now). I go down and fine no blood, just a tuft of hair. Me being me, I wasn't giving up that easily. I got on the trail and followed the rolled leaves for about 100 yards befor I found him pilled up in the cedars. Not one of the bigger boys I have on camera but pleases me with the circumstances. Stephanie was by my side, I got him with the long rifle, I used actual black powder instead of pyrodex (first black powder deer), a deer I have multiple times on multiple cameras, and my limited hunting time with working 3rd shift 7 days a week.
I'll get pictures posted later, I've got to get to bed.

I was in my stand in a new location yesterday morning long before sunup with my H&R .44 mag. I had been on vacation last week and had hit it hard all week with my bow. I was pretty discouraged after getting no penetration with my arrow on a nice buck earlier in the week, After sunup I heard lots of shooting nearby which was good considering I was cold tired and sleepy and needed something to encourage me. At 8:30 two deer came down the trail. I needed to restock my freezer so I dropped them both. Dropped the doe in her tracks at 20yds. The other turned out to be a button buck who only ran 30 yds and stopped to see what happened with the doe. He went down without taking a step. Called in and took another weeks vacation and I'm going to try and fill my buck tag.

Decided to grab the 12 gauge and head out this morning. Just got set up in some pines on a little clearing between two bedding areas. It is EXTREMELY bright out right now, only thing that has me worried... Good luck and safe hunting to all of those who are out this morning.

Headin into the stand today and had what I think were roosting turkey's explode out of the tree tops! Probably 10-15 of them and omg talk about scary. Never heard anything like it before! Just looked up and saw big bodied birds flapping their wings all over the place. Safely in my stand now though. Is awfully bright out and still pretty windy but saw a few deer on the drive here so they're up and moving. Good luck everyone. Still trying to get it done this year with my bow

Haven't seen any deer yet, moon is still high and bright! Looks gorgeous! Won't be able to pull and all dayer again. Will have to slip out of here around 10 and hopefully be back around 1. Hopefully though I will be pulling out before 10 with some venison in the back of the ol' dodge!

In the stand this morning. Wind direction is perfect in the this little woods, just inside the gate. Got the shotgun this morning, due to a problem with my bow. Hope to get that fixed after the morning hunt. Hopefully I'll get a doe to pass this morning, so I ca get some meat in the freezer. Already had 4 others around me shoot this morning, so things must be moving. Good luck to all in the stand!
