Have I mentioned my work hours suck? Got off at 8, made it in the stand by 9, and this squirrel hasn't missed a beat cutting since I left the field.
I figured with all the daytime pictures and these temps I had to try a mid-day sit. Just got to remember to out my seat cushion in the truck.......

Bucks moving on public land. 5 different bucks yesterday One of which my buddy took an 18 yd shot at and hit a stick.
One small buck this morning so far. Getting a bit windy.

Just had three does come by on the other hilltop. They should be on my creek crossing camera. Now hopefully grandpa isn't too far behind!

They came back, made three laps in front of my stand camera, hung out for 15 minutes then went back their original direction. Crazy women!

Had my best morning all year today, with no shots fired. Saw 5 different bucks with one shooter and 10 does. Had the shooter which was a 130ish 8 point at 40yrds..never had a good angle so I had to let him walk. They are on the move is rush co. Before this morning I had hunted this woods quite a bit this year and deer sightings were at a 0 that all changed this morning. Headed back out for an afternoon sit here in a bit..good luck fellow hunters, id get in the woods whenever possible!

I can hear something sloooooooow walking the ridge the does came in on about 100 yards out, I just can't see anything yet. Flat killing me!

Killed a mid 130 class 10 point yesterday afternoon at 3:00. He was trailing a doe. Also saw a 150 class chasing a doe just out of bow range around 11:00 and there were also 2 other 100 class 8 point's also in pursuit of same doe. So she must have been in heat or very close.

Just had a little 4pt come in. Only deer I've seen all day. Gonna call it a day. Ill be back out in the morning

Came the length of the ridge and followed the trail south through the oaks before I could get a look.
I hate to give up on it, but falling asleep 30' feet off the ground isn't a good idea even with a harness on.

in woods again. last night was good.saw 5 does and a 120 10 pt good shoter for this neck of the woods. hope to night is one step better. good luck and shoot streight

Back at it. Temperature sure jumped up, but hopefully they'll still get a move on before dark. I haven't had much luck in the evenings. Ended up seeing 7 deer this morning. 3 does and 4 bucks. Now if one of the big boys I've got on camera would just walk through. Goodluck everyone.

may have one down. 20 yd shot 1/4ing away deer walked 70 yds stood for long time. used binos could see intrance was a little far back but think may have got far lung. moved binos to try and get better view and deer disissaperd. did not see it move. think it fell over behind weeds. shot at 4:30 still in stand

If he fell over and is dead he will still be dead in a half hour or hour. Mentally mark where you last saw him so when you get down you can find it readily. Good luck and keep us informed.. |
