Beautiful morning to be in the stand. I took a day off work to hang with my furry friends.
I have heard and seen a ton of squirrels, but no deer yet.
Good luck to all.
Hang in there Woody, your Illinois trip is just around the corner.

Woodmaster reported in from Illinois. He has been playing cat and mouse with a 150 +/- eight pointer for the last week.
His report -
Seen 10 does, spike, 2 yo 7 pt & the big 8. The big 8 is the only one that wasn't close enough to shoot.

Seen 2 does right at 645 they either winded me or seen me move. Approximately 830 had the piebald at 84 yards and over the course of the next 45 minutes she got as close as 60. She showed all the classic signs of being in heat, but no bucks around. Very windy and cold here.

This one will be "live from the back yard". So a few minutes ago (about 11:10 Im out shooting the bow staying tuned in and confident, at least as much as I can and while walking back up to the target I catch a glimpse of movement out in the field. Woods is just over 300 yards away and even with a hill in the picked cornfield behind him and not being skylighted, even my old eyes pick up RAAAAAAAAAAAAAACKK! I run in and get the 22 with it's 3-9x scope, too late. Gone. Crap. Grrrrrrrrr. NOW the truck is supposed to be done TOMORROW (or else!) and here I sit, not working, cant go hunting and a decent buck has to thumb his nose at me. (No......I ask annually, NO HUNTING behind my home) *sigh* Get em guys. At least I can look at pictures. God Bless 3 PM. Just got the call. TRUCK IS DONE!! Whoo hoo! Ok, deer. Gloves are coming OFF!

I don't like hunting the wind (like tonight). But after the first of November guys. Be like the Postman, wind, rain, hail, snow, earthquake, tornado (maybe not). Just get out there. Its the RUT it can happen in a blind of the eye.

The wind is up and down here.
Two does came running in and kept looking back. I wonder what they were running from. ;-)
They were on high alert.

a falling limb can run them into the next county.. At my property, that might only be a few hundred yards!
