Jon, the south zone early waterfowl season opened Saturday morning. We went out, but didn't do that well, but I sure wish I had my buck by now. I'm, by no means a great waterfowl hunter, but I'm ready to get out and knock some down during the early season. Going again Wednesday morning, since its going to rain and I won't be working. Once you get started, you will know what I'm talking about. Hi jdaily, I didn't even know how far south I was; I knew that I was west. No shooting that evening, but plenty in the morning. I'm excited to know what you're talking about. I have 9 days vacation left to take this year, so I can hunt some through the week. It is nice to have my buck now. I think that I'd like to get a doe, but will squeeze her in around the ducks. One fella from this site is taking me somewhere this weekend, but I'm not sure where. Hey, post some photos of your waterfowl harvest; I really like seeing them. Good luck on getting that buck soon! Thanks!

Hunted all weekend and never did see a deer while in the stand nor driving. There are more tracks showing up now that the corn is down in my spot, and several sets of big tracks with splayed toes and dew claws, so the bucks are there at some point. I am going to have to say not seeing ANY deer means it is more than my spot, my whole region is slow right now, for some reason. Deer must be mostly nocturnal now? I hope so. Shouldn't be that way since it is a new moon, but who knows?

The only deer that I saw was the one I killed and I had to go after him. I haven't been back to my property, but will in firearm season. I sure hope to see one then. Do you have a food plot? I'd sure think that things will pick up for you this week.

I have hunted my spot for 12 years. It is an awesome spot, 54acres total, about 12 acres of marsh, swamp, and woods with oaks, the rest is crop fields. We have 300 acres of UNhunted nature preserve woods on one side, 100 acres of woods on one corner, a small lake bordering one side that funnels deer around to hundreds of acres of woods and fields about 1/2 mi away. The deer, mostly bucks, come and bed in our swamp in the morning, and the does come to the fields to feed at night. Been very consistent with the routine over the years. It WILL happen, just very slow start this year.

Changed plans and went to my stand for the first time since my foot injury. Besides the deer movement, I found a good way to stay awake. I forgot my seat cushion......

Well, the twins got to live to see another day. It was pretty cool to have live decoys for the last hour and a half of daylight.

Back out today. The most interesting thing I saw yesterday was a squirrel fall from a tree
