Haven't heard anything yet.......but it'll get around. I have a family friend that lives in Fulton Co and said that it's getting pretty crowded up there and that someone has taken a shot at him while he was on his own property during gun season. I find it interesting that it was a adult whom fired.......covering up for the kid or was it a case of "hunting" for the kid? Sad and tragic.

I suppose it's possible. I've held the Rifle for J.W. while he adjusted his chair in the blind etc. - maybe he was careless and had an ND during the transfer.

The story leads one to believe, but never state that one of the others in the 4 person group pulled the trigger. One could almost believe the shooter was in another group, on another property, sighting in on another property, or a random drive by.
I guess I just get irritated by the news outlets trying so hard to be the first to report a story that they do it before all the facts are known or they don't publish the whole story.

so true firstwd....it just causes even more rumors to start swirling when there is such an abundance of what ifs or unknowns that exist when they do this.
This happens every year, usually done by careless hunters or idiots who don't take the time to learn their weapons. However, from what I've heard (again probably just rumors) this isn't one of those cases. Accidents happen, tragic accidents happen...prayers to the family of the one involved no matter what circumstances surround the event.

Well so much for nothing illegal going on....this is one of the reasons I'm against youth hunts. So easy for people to hunt illegally and tag it as their kids....but I understand and am behind the idea of youth hunts.

The youth hunt weekend is a very important event. There will always be those who will break the law. Should we punish all of our youth because some adults can't follow rules? I noticed this weekend when I could get out with my youngest, that there was alot more gunfire than last year, but we have added that many more homes around here, we are surrounded. Those dnr tips that are on the link I posted are crucial to hunting with firearms on the ever shrinking hunting areas.

With this kind of reasoning we should outlaw anything that could be turned in to an illegal activity. Can't have people driving now; they might drink or speed or run a stop sign and injure someone. Following this line of thinking to the end will end up make most everything a target for outlawing.

Here's the text from the story......
Police have released the name of a Rochester man killed while hunting in Fulton County.
Kenneth Moore, 28, died after getting shot in the head by another hunter.
The Department of Natural Resources says Moore, two other adults, and a 12-year-old were out hunting on private property near North 400 West and 250 North..
At some point, they split into two groups. Moore and the 12-year-old were walking along a corn field when one of the hunters from the other group shot him.
A spokesperson from the DNR says the adults involved in the shooting were hunting illegally, because firearms season for adults doesn't start until next month.
The shooting is still under investigation.

I don't understand how the $#%%^%^% any one can mistake a human for any type of wildlife. For instance the father who shot his son while turkey hunting. I just don't get it.

Why don't you learn to check out the whole thing someone says before you jump on them. I am for the youth weekend, but just feel it creates more holes in the system...which no one can argue against...however I would never want them to not do it as I understand it and support what it is doing for hunting in general. It's one of those things it's worth more to us than what it does against us is all.

Totally agree, there's a difference between an accident and just being careless. It's too bad that often times it can result in ending someone's life.

There most likely be some serious charges in store for the person pulling the trigger.

This is a very sad story. The young mans mother just unexpectedly passed away last week. I'm sure his father and sister could use the prayers.
