Hey, broke a 20+ year streak yesterday! (Correction, a 13-14 year streak. I not only missed my first bird this year, I also bagged my first bird.) Now, its not like I have hunted every year, or hunted all season any year, but I have indeed hunted turkeys for the last 20 or so years. With everything from sheer stupidity, bad luck, an amazing sense of humor by our Creator and simple lack of time to hunt, all factoring in to keep me from getting a bird over the years. Got one at 10:30 yesterday! Just a 16lb jake, but at least I got a bird. Long story, but lets just say I watched this bird wander around for almost an hour, eating bugs and looking for the hen he thought was there. The sneaky critter never made a single sound the entire time. Never heard a single gobble that whole morning. I was really hoping a mature bird might also wander in, but after almost an hour of sitting motionless, I took the jake and ended my 20 year dry spell. ;D 16 lbs, 2 beards 2.25 inches long, both spurs 8 mm. I also included some pics of the mounts my brother does for his buddies. I think he does a very good job myself. These are just the ones he had no room for in the house. . . . . ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) He served with the 1st Battalion, 9th Marines in the 60's.![](http://www.johncthiel.com/mounts1.jpg) ![](http://www.johncthiel.com/mounts2.jpg) ![](http://www.johncthiel.com/mounts3.jpg) ![](http://www.johncthiel.com/mounts4.jpg)

You are a patient man, I couldn't have waited 20 years, LOL. I had a hard enough time waiting 3 seasons. Nice job!

You are a patient man, I couldn't have waited 20 years, LOL. I had a hard enough time waiting 3 seasons. Nice job! Well, I was just talking to my brother, and my memory may be a bit less than accurate, timewise anyway. He got me started, and he didn't start until '90, and didn't get a bird for 2 years thereafter, and he had killed a bird before I started. Which means I have only been hunting turkey for 13-14 years. . . . . . . .just seemed longer maybe . . . ;D
