I set up my blind 1hr before daylight on the gobbler that i was after yesterday and he fired off 200 yds off. He gobbled for a while and soon was quite. I hit the call softly every once in a while and soon i saw him 100 yds away and coming to me. All of a sudden i hear a box call 80 yds to my left and I'm thinking sh_t someone slipped in on me, so i hit my call loudly several times so this guy knows I'm over here and working this bird. it does not good and he kept hitting the box call. the gobble cuts threw a fence line I'm sitting on to the other side about 80yds away and BOOOM, this guy takes a 70+ yard shot. The bird flys off and I am mad and happy at the same time....what an idiot to shoot that far. Since I'm in my blind and its only 7:15 i just sit back and wait for him to come out. He doesn't and still calls. About ten minutes later i see a turkey coming and its a hen. I watch and pretty soon there are two more. They are feeding about 50 yards from me and the guy is calling at them. One of them feeds up toward me and I see a beard. Its a beard hen. I think this guy has shot at my tom and run him off, I'm going to Florida tomorrow afternoon, so I'm taking this bearded hen. I shot her at 30 yds. When i went to pick her up the guys whacks his box call a couple of times and i look over at him and shake my head. I took my gun which is a pump and jack the remaining 4 shells out of it as loud as i could just to make sure if any more turkeys were around they would leave. My bearded hen weighed 14 lbs with an 8" beard, NWTF score or 30. Not really what i wanted to shoot but under the circumstances I'm satisfied. For those of you wondering this happened on public land and is a draw hunt. The rules say if there is another truck in the parking lot you should go to another spot. There were 3 of us in the lot this morning, I and another guy hunting one area and the other guy was hunting behind the lot. The guy who came in on me came after we left the lot. h.h. My beard hen SCORED
