It's currently cloudy and 53 degrees down here where I am. We're expecting rain this evening then turning to snow tomorrow. Not expecting very much though.

We might end up with all rain and we might end up with an inch of ice. 50 Miles is going to make a huge difference in this one ..... the difference between a wet nasty day and the possibility of no power for a week. Been there, swilk. Two years ago with the HUGE Ice Storm we had down here in Ky. Power was out for 15 days!! Hope you Guys don't end up with what we had two years ago. I remember that!

Me too.. we had seven or eight days of off again and on again electricity - mostly off. The fireplace insert was a life saver..

We got about 1/4" of ice last night and now it is sleeting really hard and going to turn to freezing rain again tonight. Possibly another inch of ice. Not fun at all.

It was the evening my wife and I brought our boy home from the hospital. Then lost power two hours later. Sat on the bed all night listening to him crying and trees breaking in the woods behind my house. Very eary.

Lots of ice here....trees and power lines sagging badly, honestly surprised and blessed to still have power and tv. In case things turn for the worse, I have got the Generac and 15 gallons of gas on tap and enough wood on the porch for 2 weeks for the stove. Family is all together and prepared for the worstestest....(thats really bad)...

Got about 3-4 inches of snow today, home for the night and back at it again in the morning. We're expecting anywhere from 16 to 22-24" between tomorrow morning and Thursday morning.

Wow ! Fun stuff ! We got 2-3" Mon night, then have been getting hammered since about 4PM today. Power has blinked out a few times, but luckily have missed most of the ice and freezing rain so far. Sounds like it's gonna slam us until about noon tomorrow.
Got a fire in the woodstove, plenty of wood, plenty of groceries, a couple jugs of hooch, and a couple big jugs of water to flush toilet or cook with if needed.
A country boy can survive !

The wind is blowing something fierce right now here in Knox County. Up North is getting hammered. Anytime Purdue cancels classes its gotta be bad.

Well I survived the blizzard of 2011.....not nearly the snow here they predicted. We got a lot of sleet and wind last night. Some icing on the trees but not too bad. Leaving for Florida at noon today to hog hunt for a week. I couldn't have picked a better time to get out of this winter weather. h.h.

I got a text about 1am the state road 46 is listed as impassable from Spencer to Greensburg. H.H. you may want to look at the INDOT website and check road conditions down this way before you head out. Can one judge what a company thinks of them if their one of the last to get power restored? Ours went out just before 9pm, came back briefly around midnight I think, still dark this morning. Most if the town that I can tell from here is back on, just not my pocket of the neighborhood. Kinda wonder if we are lower priority since we have wood heat?

The wind howled most of the night with gusts (according to Chicago news) as high as 62mph. We received a lot of snow but not as much as the storm that hit just before Christmas, however we have approx. 12-14 inches from past snows laying on the ground already. It appears that the biggest problem is going to be drifted areas. It is expected to snow most of the day with a grand total of 16-20 inches of snow by the time this storm passes. I let the dog out this morning and instead of running into the woods she just walked down the driveway and did it in front of the car where the snow was not as deep. ( SMART DOG ).

I too live in the "Orange" section of the map. Said "not ME, guys" at midnight and headed home from work.
ONE semi, ONE 4x4 full size truck......and me on four lane 31 in 12 miles. Oh yeah......and FOUR guys passed me on four wheelers? Hate to have to had to pay for their clothes. OMG
8 vehicles in the ditch. STopped for two that obviously just arrived to make sure they had help coming. One was a full size four by four......15 feet off the road.
I was IN the truck and freezing. 2-3 inches an hour of snow mixed with sleet blowing so hard it stung like a BB gun fight.......that I was LOSING.
Only "lost" the road four times then turned off onto SR10. Bucked drifts 4 miles to home, five runs at the garage to get in and 15 min shoveling to get the snow OUT of the garage after pushing it in.
Thank God for Kerosene! Furnace couldnt keep up.
Now the temps are supposed to bottom out for a few nights.
Wonderful.
Miss my old home in the woods with two woodburners and 20 acres of black oak!!
God Bless and drive careful. Steve

Steve,
Glad you made it home in one piece.
HH,
Be careful on your trip.
Just a light dusting down here. a bit nippy at 25 though.
Gonna get in the teens overnight the next couple nights so I'll be building a fire in the fireplace insert soon.
