The idiots that be keep mentioning that it will connect "CRANE", but never seem to take the time to say why "Crane" should be connected. Has anybody here or down in that area ever seen or heard of an official from "Crane" itself that confirms this? The people I have talked to that work at Crane have a much different opinion than what is being touted in the public press.

Not sure what you are asking but the new road is to go around the N-W corner of the naval base, there will be an exit where 231 and 58 meet. Just about 2 miles from the Crane Gate near Crane Village. I know a couple familes that are dealing with losing their property due to the new road. They are not real happy! What are the other opinions on what is being touted. Always interested in hearing other consipiracy theories

Just wanting to hear what you are concerned about? You asked if anyone knew anything and I told you what I know. Why not share your inside scoops?
Sorry if the "conspiracy" ruffled your feathers. The way you sold your statement that's just what it sounded like to me.

I know where it's going, maybe they do too, just concerned about spending 3 billion dollars when it's not really needed. Just curious to know why they want to connect it. It was put there because it is isolated, wasn't it? That's kind of what the history of the place shows. 3 billion to get to Evansville 14 minutes quicker sounds like a deal doesn't it? Indiana has shown not to take care of what they have, and now to add more? Common sense is not very common any more. Any body yet figured out where all the rainwater off that boondoggle will go? Haven't seen any reports about that one yet, still waiting.

I hear you. Was not a big fan of the new terrain either. Crane has lots of trucks in and out every day with lots of new buildings being built near Crane Village, I guess times are changing.

The trucks in and out was something that was told to me, and with that now being contracted, things are apparently better and movement of whatever they move [and I don't want to know what they move] is just fine and there is no complaints from the drivers about the roads they use. The hills and where wooded areas are on either side of the roads might pose a security risk, but the good stuff has extra eyes on the road with them, used to see them run through the edge of town all the time, knew a guy who rode in one of the SUV's , kinky stuff. See that artistic Marine trailer quite often. Took a Freedom of Information Act request to get the results of the poll a few years ago that was taken from people who lived along the proposed route. Seems the State said most were for the road, real results were just the opposite. Oooooooh, what does that remind you of? I'm more worried about the mess my grandson will have to deal with when he grows up, seeing all the crap coming out of D.C. I'll probably be in the dirt nap mode by the time it all gets straightened out.

Interesting, this is by far better then reading about the deer hunting rule changes! Who knows the real reason.
As far the rainwater question, I know the Environmental Assessments will address that and that several companies are working on wetland mitagation to take care of some that are going to be destroyed and the company that gets the contract to build the road will have to engineer to manage the storm water. Doesn't make the pill any easier to swallow but I can assure you there are people thinking about rain water and where it will go and what it will do.

Hey Duff, I was down there last week and saw all the new building you speak of. I couldn't believe it! LOTS of new high tech businesses it appeared to me...and.....in the middle of nowhere to boot! What's up with that?

All those new additions in the "Industrial Park" are contractors offices who coordinate with Crane. They work with Crane for bidding on new contracts, existing contracts, etc. Got the surprise of my life a number of years ago when in Florida visiting Cape Canaveral, they had an airfield just out side for all the major contractors to fly their corporate jets in and out of. It's that military, industrial complex that President Eisenhower warned about back in the 50's.

What's up with that? From what I understand, I-69 is going to allow more & more development of your natural areas & farms, where you hunt. Even down here in Ky Folks are talking about moving to Indiana to find work once I-69 is completed, which means a population boom for the "Hoosier" State once things take shape. This inturn means more land turned into Subdivisions for new homes & industrial parks, Wal-Marts, etc. Could this be the reason the State of Indiana is declaring war on the Deer Population, reducing the herd size before all this development???

That thought never crossed my mind, but it makes sense. Can't let the Indians get in the way of the white settlers. Definetly destroy a way of life in that area for sure.

Isn't I-69 going right through western KY too? I guess there are no exits being built in KY section ;D

What's up with that? DoD doesn't want contractors stationed on base, cheap land, lots of jobs, and the american dream is what that is all about. 10 years from now I am sure it will be a whole different place with the interstate and new buildings. I hear they are building a new hotel in the tech park and I can see old Hassler's Corner gas station growing to a large truck stop before it is all said and done. At least they will have to expand and make the parking lot a bit easier to get in and out!

I cant wait for I69 to get completed! All the semi drivers will tell you the same thing. Cant wait to be able to drive up hwy41 or hwy57 and not be stuck behind a semi doing 45-50 mph, or worse yet having one ride my bumper after the sun goes down. Their is just way to many semi's on these two lane roads, its not safe, and the state spends a crap load on these roads, repatching them constantly for the heavy equipment and the trucks.
BTW I69 will save more than 14 min. to Indy.

I have read one survey that estimated 17 minutes quicker though.
