Did you run that load through a chrono?

Did you run that load through a chrono? No not yet. I had 10 rounds loaded to test fire the gun and get the scope adjusted. I shot for a group the last five. Next time out I will set up the chrony. h.h.

You forget- IN does allow the use of high power rounds. But they are restricted to pistol use only. They don't limit barrel length either, so if one wanted to take a 300+ yard shot at a deer with a .300 Win Mag and a 22" barrel, it is do-able as long as the gun is legally a pistol. danf - one point of clarification, while the DNR does not specify barrel length the state does however! In order to BE "legally" a pistol, it has to have a barrel length of under 16".

I had a .375 Whisper bult last year. Used a Tikka T3 bolt action as the donor rifle. It pushes a 220 grain bullet at about 2400 FPS. Very accurate, and easily a 250 yard killer. Shot a nice buck with it last year at 170 yards, one shot kill. I won't be using a shotgun anymore.
Looking for a .308 Ruger to build another one from, if anyone has one they want to part with.

Steiny, you might consider a Browning A-Bolt action (.308 length) to build your next .375 Whisper. The removable box magazine would feed rounds better than the Ruger for such a short cartridge.

Did you run that load through a chrono? Swilk, I timed the load today and with 200 Horn SP, 46 grains Varget it was 2340 fps, with 200 Barnes TSX it was 2395 fps. Very accurate load. h.h.

I have neglected to get together the additional load data I have ..... I will work on that asap.
I seems very, very easy to get a MOA load for these guns. Getting one in the 27-2800fps range is the trick.
I have not shot any of the 200gr hornady ..... just the 180's and the accubond 225's.
4895 was a bit faster than the varget speeds you listed.
10x is a whole lot faster.

Got my .358 WSSM figured out for my setup. 200 grain Hornady FTX and 43.0 grains IMR 4064 chronographs 2222 fps out of my Handi Rifle. Shoots half-inch groups at 100 yards. Dead zero at 100 yards hits first mil-dot down at 200 yards and third mil-dot at 300 yards according to ballistics info from Hornady site. Now to find a place to shoot 300 to find out if reality matches calculations.
