Just wanted to see if this happened to anyone else this morning... I sat at Mississinewa (I know crazy right?) Well the main reason I did was I wanted to fill my doe tag(already got my buck) with my bow and I figured this morning with all the shots it would be a good chance.. Well, turns out I was wrong.. there were TONS of cars parked there this morning and I only counted 34 shots?? ANd alot of these came from private ground... I didnt see one cotton picking thing run through, which is also very weird because I was sitting in a great escape route area... Did anyone else around the state just not see or hear much this morning?? Or was I in the wrong spot?? From what others said to me this morning I was not alone in not seeing anything out there?

Lots of shooting in Franklin County. There were tons of deer being checked in in Metamora.
I took a doe, my buddy took a doe, and his dad took an 8 pointer.
I saw 53 deer while hunting today...they were running everywhere.

I heard a few "morning" shots in the surrounding area; but I saw not one Deer where I was hunting behind my home. Staid in my stand all day and only heard one afternon shot. Very little movement, on the Deer's part. In years past; I normally see around six Deer on any given day, during the season.

Glad I wasn't the only one. Hunting State Forest. A lot of "First Light" shots rang out. Counted about 25 (15 of those were 3 sets of the 5 in a roll kind). Didn't see one deer. A lot of scrapes and deer tracks but not one deer pass my way. Oh well guess why they call it hunting.

I only saw one squirrel on opening morning. Our property is split in half by a road and my dad and uncle were hunting on the other side. When I walked to the house, they were in my driveway with a nine pointer and a big ten. I picked the wrong side!

We counted 27 shots Saturday Morning....and some were pretty far off. I checked my deer at The Fishin Shed at Lake Monroe, they said they were WAY down for the same day last year, less than half and that was at 2:00pm
I also asked about Archery checked deer.....the girl said "was there an archery season this year".....she said it was an all time low for them.

Probably because the weather was too nice. If it had been colder, more people would have been up walking around. Only saw a couple of deer in the morning (passed on a couple of small bucks) but shot two does in the evening and now will wait for either a big boy or another doe. Freezer will be full this year.

I haven't hunted Indiana yet. I've been over in Illinois for their early gun season.
A bowhunting friend of mine sat my Indiana stand on the opener and Sunday morning and he only saw one small (110 or so) buck. He said there was very little shooting going on and there were a bunch of vehicles parked up and down the road.
We will be passing out Thanksgiving baskets at our church food pantry this morning so I wont get out until tomorrow morning. I don't think the 2007 deer harvest will be near as good as the IDNR is predicting...

I don't think the 2007 deer harvest will be near as good as the IDNR is predicting... No, I don't either! Funny thing is I have seen more deer this year than any other year I can remember. I've hunted every weekend and had more shot opportunities with my bow than I can ever remember.....just couldn't close the deal. However I did only see one deer this past 4 or 5 days (they knew I had a gun).......I think there are still plenty of deer, but I think the deer hunters are just not out there. With the warm weather and $3.00 a gallon gas, some folks are just not going.

This was a very odd opening day. Where I sat I usually have deer in bow range every time while in my stand. Well, Saturday morning I only saw two does. They were on another property, so I couldn't get a shot. Didn't see anything the rest of the day. Sunday morning I went to a new place I've never hunted. Saw two does and a tight racked eight point up wind on another property. While watching the buck I here a something snort to my left. I look out into the field and see nothing but whitetails. There must of been 15-20 deer bedded in a thicket down wind of me. The north east wind messed me up all day yesterday. In the afternoon I went back to the place I hunted opening day and saw four does about 200yds up wind the middle of the afternoon. Then about 4pm I look downwind of me and there are 2 does. Well once again they wind me and there was ten or twelve does. Well hopefully I will have better luck this week.

Very slow where I was too. I counted 250 shots from 7-11 usually 350-400. Yesterday evening I counted only 20. which is unheard of down there opening weekend. I was in Jefferson/Switzerland Co.

Interesting, there were FAR more shots where my son and I was this year than the last 2 and FAR more cars parked along the road. Northern Miami co.

Saturday morning was slow for me also. But I think it had more to due with the BRUTE cologne some fine local tresspassing Idiot poured all on and around my stand. But the season is still young and this only makes me more dedicated to taking the deer this person didn't want me to take

I have a pretty good idea who it was, but proving it is a tough thing to do.

I counted about 80 shots by 9:00 am Sat. morning. I haven't hunted this area on opening morning for 3-4 years so I can't compare it to the last few years but I had to guess I would say that there was little more shooting than usual in this area.
