So you're looking at a Glock 23 or a P89 that's 9mm? Personally, I'd go with the 40 if those were my two choices. Either gun should serve well.

That particular Ruger is not going to hold its value as well and it will be heavier and a little bulkier. The P-series Ruger pistols aren't bad guns, but I would lean towards the glock for the reasons I just mentioned.

Go with whatever you are comfortable with and shoot the best.

The Ruger appears a little bulky to me.

You might look at the Ruger SR9. They are about $480 new and handle pretty well. I'd still go with the G23.

That Ruger is a TANK and will serve you well,However the Glock is alot more simple of a handgun, keep ur finger off the trigger til ready to shoot

Glock 19 is a 9mm.
If you're looking 9mm only I'm a fan of the Beretta 92FS. Not a compact though, but a heckuva pistol.

Just my personal opinion here. You might consider staying away from the double stack magazine models for an everyday carry pistol for several reasons. They are heavier - less comfortable to carry They are bulkier - more difficult to conceal
In a firearm carried for self-defense, just a few rounds will suffice - you're not going to be involved in a threat management situation
Again, just my personal opinion. In my experience, most who are new to the CCW game initially buy a firearm they quickly determine to be too large for routine carry.

+1000 Hux.
A gun you won't carry does you no good.
I've carried a lot of different guns over the past 20 years and have settled on the Ruger SP101. Big for a 5shot snubby, but small enough to carry (about the size of a MiniGlock) AND will handle my monster thumper loads if I need it to.
Another advantage of a wheelie... no brass left for the feds to pick up...

Also with a wheel gun there's no possibility of having to fumble with safeties, or wondering if there is a round in the chamber in a high stress situation.

Right, forgot he wanted CC Hux. You said it for sure.
I like the SP101 also OI. My buddy has one and ever since I tried it I've wanted one but just never have. It's as simple as they come and conceals nicely.
I also like the SiG P239 for CC.

If I had a bunch of money to play with and wanted a new bottom feeder, I would be looking very seriously at the new SiG 250 - which allows you to build a custom gun from modular components... then change it whenever you like. SWEET concept.

Yep. Something else to consider......... if for some reason (highly unlikely) your hammer drops on a dud, just pull the trigger again.
