picked up an old style Ruger carbine 44 Mag Auto at a gun show the other day .It came already scoped and will shoot 240 gr or 300 gr in a ragged hole at 50 yds. I figured even if this thing won't pass in IN I will still be able to use it in KY That is my second choice if I can find one. WW

In Guntests the Ruger 96 beat out the 1894. Ruger has a 1:20 twist so will stabalize the 300gr loads they said. Lever also has a short throw which would be nice for staying on target. I'd still rather have the Marlin. Can't decide on if I'd want a CB or a regular 1894 though.

Forget what I've been saying; this rifle keyholes 210grs as well - as in going through the target completely sideways. Marlin's going to get this one back; it's in trouble.

dbd - is that one of the ones with Microgroove or Ballard rifling?

It's brand new so can't blame the rifling style, but I do suspect the rifling in this one is bad.

Ah. Well then, sending it back is probably the best bit.
Make sure you send a few targets with it, showing the range and the load used for each.

I ordered a Marlin 1894 last Monday, they told me it would be in in about a week. It's been a week and one day! I hate this waiting!! parson

I wonder if Winchester will start making 94's again?

I can't wait for all of the smoke to clear on the final regs so I can pick me out a new deer rifle.

I wonder if Winchester will start making 94's again? I would hope so, but I beleive it would take more than just Indiana legalizing them to fire them back up.

I wonder if Winchester will start making 94's again? We moan about thata lot on leverguns.sixgunner.com/The general consensus is... not likely. Browning/Mirouku makes 1886s on a sporadic basis, and Rossi has the 1892 market pretty well sewn up. Browning MIGHT bring out an 1894, but that's iffy at best. Anyway, the 1892 is a better pistol caliber gun. That's what it was designed to shoot.

I like the Brownings and all, but I swear that wood is plastic! It just doesn't feel right to me, but I'd still want one!

Had someone tell me today that the local gun shop just got in 8 H&R Handi-rifles in 44 Mag in anticipation of them becoming legalized
