My stepson asked me to make some deer jerky from his buck. I wrote "possum jerky" on the bags before I gave it to him and his sister. She had already been eating some as it was getting done. For a few minutes she really thought she had been eating possum.

I switched to maceration instead of cooking skulls this year. I liked that method much better. Basically zero time and effort involved. I kept them in a chest freezer heated to 100⁰ with a thermostat and a ceramic heat bulb. I put 4 capsules of bromelain in each bucket of water. One week later the skulls were perfectly clean after hosing them off. Now I have them degeasing at 115-120⁰ with Ammonia. I'll alternate with Dawn soap every water change. I could tell a difference between the macerated skulls and some that I cooked last year. The macerated skulls were cleaner and already looked whiter. Cooking them puts grease deeper into the bone. The way I'm doing them this year will take longer, but it's less physical work. The end result will be much better. These pictures are after maceration and before I started degreasing. The last picture is my degreasing set up.

The Wally World Tasco's are pretty good cameras. I have six of them that are at least three years old that still work, but I hate to say it the 3 cell cameras I have bought have made the Tasco cameras, cams that will not see much use anymore. It sure is nice getting picts sent to your phone My Tasco lasted 2 or 3 years but 2 out of every 3 pictures were darker than they should have been. It was consistent, every 1st picture was good then 2 dark pictures.

I got a bass pro gift card for Christmas. We went to a store yesterday to look for a new trail camera. Almost every model on display was a cell camera. I'd say 75% or more. Is that the direction they are all going? I don't have cell service at our house or property. I wanted a Browning since that's what I currently have but they were sold out of the one in my price range. I settled on a small Moultrie. I put it out today. I had a Moultrie several years ago and it was pretty good. Hopefully this one is too. I like that it only uses 4 batteries. It's replacing a Walmart Tasco. I'm sure it will be an upgrade.

I'm also a short fat guy with stubby legs. I've never found bibs that fit. I have my mom shorten the legs of mine.

I finished the podcast. It seemed like he sure was enjoying the attention he was getting. He talked about a C.O. questioning him towards the end. If I had to guess, I think he brought the deer back to his sisters property and staged the kill scene. He mentioned that he already had a lawyer hired but that was just to handle all the people wanting to buy it.
I couldn't imagine being the guy that was trying to kill that buck legally and this low life sneaks in and poaches it. I hope the fines are hefty, but it sounds like this guy is probably living off of the tax payers already. I don't know how they will collect them.

I've made it through the first hour of the podcast so far. Its all about his families housing difficulties and why he doesn't have a job. He only made $4000 last year but somehow bought a $3000 compound only to sell it later for $500. One thing I noticed was when he was talking about his 150" 8 point from last season. At first his buddy found the matched set of sheds from it and gave them to him. The second time it came up, he found one side and his buddy found the other.
I don't feel sorry for this guy one bit. He made the decision to poach this deer. Then he posts it all over social media and does a 3 hour podcast about it. I have a feeling every time he told the story it was a little different version.

He was on a podcast and told the story about how he killed it. I'll be listening to that at work tomorrow. I've read where some of his facts didn't add up during the interview.

Interesting tidbit I read about his story was he had said he had shot buck the evening before, but waited and went back next morning with buddy to recover at 10:30 a.m.. yet all his field pictures are at night.. OOPPSS.. Details, details. Yeah many was questioning that a month ago along with his lack of camera pics…. Glad I wasn’t the Guy who paid 30k for a poached Deer! Same guy who owned the rack that my dad used to own as sheds

I wish we had a rural king close by. I think the nearest one is 1.5-2 hours away

My biggest fear is losing loved ones. I'm not worried about anything that will happen to me along the way. It's part of aging. The thought of losing any of them worries me so much.

Does anyone have any Metabo cordless tools? I found an impact driver on the road. I think it's 18v lithium. No battery. If anyone has a battery and charger for this I'll ship it to them. I'd rather see it go to someone who could use it instead of throwing it away.
I can't test it so I can't guarantee it works.

We went there for a company picnic this summer. I wasn't impressed. The pool was packed and the water was very cold. There wasn't much to do. We had to walk through metal detectors to get into the pool area. I noticed the power cords weren't plugged into anything. I walked right through with a large pocket knife on me.

As a trad bow hunter, no, I don't think we need a separate season. I don't see any need for it.

I'm in Switzerland County and we have too many does on our property. When I was the only one hunting in the family I tried to kill 3 does a year. Now that my wife and step kids are hunting and killing deer we don't need that much meat. I'd like to get at least one more doe this season. Preferably one of the does that were eating my garden all summer. They should be healthy.

A lawyer just has to convince 12 jurors that he killed her.
