I bought a live one this year. Paid $40 bucks but it’s little.

EHD hit had about 3-4 years ago around my property in Perry county. Haven’t hunted it but maybe twice in 3 years, now it’s full of deer from what it used to be. I hunted it this year and had 4 shooter bucks all over 135-140. To many does to count, usually saw 5-6 does and a couple bucks every sit. Keep in mind it’s only 60 acres but not to many hunters in my area. Have 2 food plots in that aren’t big but deer are in them all the time. Standing corn was taken out around me just after thanksgiving. Have not killed a doe here in about 10 years. Kill a doe at my vanderburgh county spot.

A friend does mine. Last year it was $300, this year $360 because of inflation. He’s done 10 for me, working on number 11 now.

Looks like a good idea. If I heard right $375? and that does not seem all that bad. I do not know if he mentioned what kind of battery is used. Be nice if there were options. I would have issues leaving it up on public land and even some private ground. Just cause I am paranoid it does not mean someone would not take this in a heartbeat. Thought I heard $875?

I’m not sure of the temperature, but I was hunting muzzle loader season back in the 80s with my father. I took a can coke with me on my homemade wooden stand and the coke froze solid in about 20 minutes. Ended up killing a buck and remember not wanting to take my hands out of his stomach cavity after gutting him.

Spent the night at my cabin in Perry county last night. Looked out in the front yard at 6 am and 5 does feeding, no bucks.

Dang, that’s a tough one. I’m trying to look at the brow tines to confirm but the first picture is too blurry to make out the brows. This may help.

I say these are two different bucks, my wife thinks they’re the same one. Can’t be because of the crab claw on the one I shot. I one I harvested. Next post is the other deer. Different deer in my opinion.

Yes, I have 3 holly trees at my house and every few years robins come by the hundreds and strip the red berries off and eat them. Been a couple of years since it happened.

Ended up successfully recovering the deer my brother shot. Super happy that he got it. This is only his 3rd hunt this year and it’s the last time he can get out for the year. He was super pumped. My kids (minus the youngest) had to be in the picture with Uncle Sam and his buck. Lol Congratulations ,great looking bunch.

Very moving and true. I’m a little bit older than him but we’re on the same journey.

I wasn’t a CO but I was in law enforcement. I worked with a couple of COs on cases back in the 80s , those guys are stretched thin and on their own surrounded by people with guns. Why one would walk through the woods checking on licenses I can almost guarantee they got a tip, sorry for your friend who’s hunt was interrupted but I bet there was a good reason. They take and follow orders like most jobs, so I bet his supervisor wanted a complaint checked out.

Watched a bobcat once climb a tree 10 yards from the tree I was in and look in a squirrels den. Took him about 3 seconds to climb 25 feet. Climbed back down after finding it empty and walked off. Another time I was sitting on a cliff drop off that you could climb up on hands and knees during muzzle loader season watching a valley, I saw something trotting through the woods towards me. It was a fox and this thing climbed up and sat on a rock within arms reach of me. I never moved, it ran off and 2 minutes later a coyote followed the exact same path as the fox and sat at the same spot. I was head to toe in camouflage coveralls. I have many more memories of strange animal behavior including touching a deer walking past me. I was still hunting on the ground next to a large tree. I heard and saw a small doe walking on a run next to tree. As it walked past I reached out and brushed it back end, it didn’t flinch and kept walking. After 50 years in the woods you see a lot of things.
