Back in the same stand as this morning. Too many deer around to not sit here.

Ended up seeing 3 does and 9+ different bucks, of various ages. And a coyote.
We called in 7 coyotes last night, but none hit the ground...We have more work to do.

Heard some sparring, then some chasing, then a doe came running in with at least 4 bucks in-tow...1 may have been mature, didn't get great look.

What a quiet, still morning. Almost eerie...sitting in my power line stand where my last few bucks have come out of.

Got to the farm about 530 this evening...shot my bow for a bit and waited for it to get dark. Set up the AR on the tripod and tried calling a spot right next to the house. 2 minutes later, dead dog on the ground.

arlowe, you been working a bunch? Like a dog. At my job AND at home, trying to finish up some home projects before trying to sell, early next year.

t-minus 48 hours until my first hunt of the year... It doesn't seem like it usually takes you very long once you get started either! I've had a couple good years in a row, but the law of averages always rears its head!

Ours has certainly evolved since I started hunting with my dad when I was 8 or so...
Started as a converted "mini barn" that my dad converted into a cabin with bunks, a table and potbelly stove...that stove would run us out of that cabin real quick! This was where I hunted my first 8 years of hunting, and it took that long for me to finally kill my first deer...yes, 7 years of blanking, but I kept with it!
Then, we started staying at our campground on the Ohio River in a travel trailer and driving to the farm.
Now, we stay in an old house on the farm we hunt. Farmer's parents used to live in the house and the farmer doesn't want to rent it out to anyone, so he lets us stay in it during deer and turkey seasons and we just pay the utilities during those months...pretty sweet gig.

What part of state are you in? I have enough gear for second night gunner...tripod, silenced rifle with night vision... NW corner, in La Porte. Gotcha, what about you, genesis273? I'm down in the SE corner.

Got mine today. I like the journal-style we are doing this year. I will definitely start requesting it back, as it will be a cool souvenir to have from each year.

Nice looking bucks. I’ve tagged a 21” 8 point. I tagged a 19" 8 point in 2018 arlowe saw it when he came down and coyote hunted. Sure did, was a sweet buck. We will make it out there again this year hopefully to get those 2 critters that got away last time.

Love wide-racked deer. We try to manage our property, for the most part, that our "shooter" buck's racks are "outside their ears"...exceptions can be made of course, but our general rule. My 2016 archery buck is the widest I've seen on our land.

I love the time I get to spend in the woods, but coming home to my boys is always the best BOY OH BOY! You sure know how to get off topic don't you? I just got home from "Live in the Woods" when I took this pic 😁...

Got down to the farm tonight around 8:30 and checked a trailcam...speechless He is mature, for sure. But not the genetics I would want breeding. Maybe do a kind deed and let someone who hasnt killed a deer try to kill him. That is what I would do, anyway. My mom still has her buck tag and her stand isn't 100 yards from this picture. He will get shot if he shows up.
